By Kum Martin
Diving head first from bridges, cranes and platform and then being saved the last moment by the bungee jumping cord attached to your ankle might seem madness to other but to bungee jumping enthusiasts it is exciting and mind-blowing experience.
Many large cities have permanent bungee jumping locations where you can go to experience the heady rush of bungee jumping. There are even traveling concessions which go from city to city giving bungee jumping enthusiasts what they are constantly yearning for.
Bungee jumping is the easiest of all extreme sports. You do not need any special knowledge or equipment to execute a jump. All you need is the nerves to jump off from a high elevation with nothing but a cord attached to your ankle. Usually bungee jumping operators are trained professionals who have the knowledge to help you through. They have done to math to ensure that the cord is just right for you and they will give you a brief talk about the procedure. You end up signing a disclaimer and acknowledge that you have no known medical condition that would stop you from doing it. They record your weight and height after which they tie the appropriate length of cord to your body by way of a harness.
Harnesses are of two types. One is an ankle harness and the other is body harness. Usually you will have both. The body harness is just a backup and you can be sure that the actual jump and the bounces will be by way of an ankle harness. The body harness will be used to either pull you up or lower you to the ground. If you do bungee jumping without the ankle harness and just with the body harness, the stress on your ankles and legs is less.
If you have not tried bungee jumping, it is about time you experience the thrill of being bounced up and down. It is definitely worth it.
