Finding Unique and Exotic Travel Deals Right Here in the US

For the larger travel web sites; travel deals are generated when they purchase airfare seats, hotels and rental cars in bulk and then resale to the general public at reduced rates.

The same holds true for discounted cruise deals and hot vacation spots. He who has the cash flow to purchase travel in bulk do extremely well in the resale.

However, there is another travel deal that is generated consistently that the general public usually is not aware of. This is the travel deals created by the smaller resorts and off the beaten path travel spots.

With any purchase of sight unseen you run the risk of the vacation NOT being what you expected. You can be fairly sure that your accommodations will be as advertised when you purchase from the large travel web sites.

This leads us to why the "travel review" sites are so popular. You can go to any of these sites and read what other traveler's have written about the destination you are interested in visiting.
This leads us to another concern for the independent traveler; unless you know exactly where it is you want to travel you may never know about the exciting, wonderful, beautiful, inexpensive, travel deals throughout the world that have been totally safe for Americans in the past.

Getting small private resorts, travel agents and travel suppliers to be consistent with their marketing efforts has not proven successful. In the pass their ad campaigns have been hit and miss, now and then. Unless a cash flow rich travel agency decides to promote one of these small and unique travel destinations in the San Francisco Chronicle or the New York Times; the general public may never know of the hidden travel spots.

Yes, this is a time when we must be extremely aware of our surroundings, regardless of what county we are in; but we don't have to leave the US to find really nice exotic places alone the Eastern seaboard or the hidden islands and coast line off the southern states here in the US.

Travel Agents receive press releases and flyers on remolded, inexpensive, small, out of the way resorts, via their fax lines all the time. Its one thing for them to receive this information and another for them to promote them. And why should they? Good business persons promote that which will increase their income! And many of travelers go to the larger travel sites for vacation packages.

So for the independent traveler who wants more from his/her travel experience - research is the key. You don't have to leave the US to find new and exciting places to travel -- However, you do have to take the time to find them.

If you're looking to lift your rubber stamping projects out of the ordinary, these stamps are known for their unique designs, colors and figurines, that are not found in other stamping lines. Chinese and Japanese stamps bring the Orient right to your pieces of art!

Asian rubber stamps give you access to a whole new bank of images and ideas. Quaint designs like the Chinese flautist, the Chinese Coin, figurines of lovely Japanese girls, the Maneki Neko of the traditional cat, which is the symbol of luck, and other designs, are unique to Asian culture. If you are looking to communicate a specific idea in your scrapbooking or card-making, these stamps may meet your needs.

Stamps with an Asian theme can bring a bit of glamour and interest to almost any project, whether you are creating a personalized scrapbook page, a bookmark, or anything else you can dream up. Some of the most popular stamps are those depicting Oriental lanterns, bonsai art, Geisha Girls, Sumo wrestlers, the amazing Phoenix and even the most important figure of the Ultimate, the Buddha!

Another popular category are stamps that have words on them in the form of Chinese or Japenese characters, such as "Peace," or "Love." Almost all Asian rubber stamps also come with the translation of the word in English, which gives you a double benefit. How? Well, you can either keep the whole piece as it is, or can trim off the English translation, to make a brand new rubber stamp out of it. So you have an Asian rubber stamp and an English one as well. With these rubber stamps, you end up getting two rubber stamps for the price of one.

Wood-mounted Asian rubber stamps are extremely popular, but so are foam-mounted rubber stamps. There are also many un-mounted Asian rubber stamp designs for those of you who prefer the storage ease of un-mounted stamping. Some of the popular stamp companies that offer a wide Asian rubber stamp line include: StampMagick, Cape Arago, and Bunch of Fun.

If you love rubber stamping, and haven't explored Asian stamps, you owe it to yourself to check out the diversity and creativity on display. Using these stamps in your work allows your projects to stand apart from the crowd and be truly unique. Rubber stamping with Asian themes is a great way to express yourself.

What Are The Best Cheap Dental Plans For Your Child's Health?

By Joe Stewart

If you've been looking into cheap dental plans because you are concerned about your child's dental health then there are a few things that you may not be aware of. You see, all dental plans are NOT created equal and some will charge you way too much money and not provide nearly enough coverage. Compared to other things that are available now, some of these other plans are on the verge of being a rip off. Are you curious what I'm referring to? I thought you might be. Read on...

The plans that I'm bringing into question are called, you guessed it - Dental Insurance! What? I'll bet you thought I was going to tell you how great they are, weren't you? Regardless, dental insurance is not the best way to get dental care for you or your child. The main reason that I say this is because most "competent" dental insurance plans are very expensive and do NOT cover pre-existing conditions. Pre-existing conditions are any problems that you or your child may have before you purchase the policy. This means that if you or another family member has a cavity, needs a root canal, ect. that you will NOT be covered and will have to pay for treatment out of your own pocket at full price. Dental insurance is more designed for routine care, such as cleanings, flouride treatments and other basic dental work.

If you are in need of a dental plan right away because your child or someone else in your family has a major dental problem, then you need to take a look at a Dental Discount Plan instead.

Dental Discount Plans are not an insurance policy, they simply provide big discounts to their members by joining. You'll see a qualified dentist or dental specialist, depending on the care that you need, and you'll save anywhere from ten to sixty percent off of the usual cost of the procedure. These dentists are just like any other that you've ever seen. As a matter of fact, your current dentist may already be a member without you knowing it.

If you or your children are in need of a good family dental plan, I recommend that you take a look at dental discount plans and compare them directly with dental insurance. Make sure that you read the fine print and you'll soon see that I'm right.

Do Dental Discount Plans Really Save You Money or is Dental Insurance The Way To Go? Find Out The REAL Truth by Visiting Discount-Dental.net or by clicking on Cheap Dental Plan Child Health . Lost Data: What Do You Do When It Happens To You

By David Wegener

Most if not all forms of storage is susceptible to becoming damaged or corrupt. When your hard disk drives, CDs, DVDs or RAID arrays fail it is time to attempt recover your lost data. Data recovery describes the techniques implemented by IT professionals to salvage data that has been lost. Not only does it apply to drives that are physically or logically corrupt, data recovery is also used as a term to describe the process of retrieving and securing deleted information.
Police departments and government agencies often uses these sorts of techniques for forensics purposes.

Usually the need for data recovery is because it has been accidentally deleted from the system. If this is the case, then normally most of the data can be recovered. But when data is lost due to physically damage or from malicious software, such as a virus, the chances of recovering your lost data goes down significantly. For simple data recovery, like for an accidentally deleted file, you can do-it-yourself by purchasing “Undelete” software. For physical damage, like what occurs when a computer is submerged in a flooded basement, it is best to contact a specialist to assist you.

If you decided to attempt to recover your data yourself on a physically damaged or corrupt drive you will need to keep a couple of things in mind. Do not allow your system to start up or run from the damaged drive. Instead, create a boot disk, boot from a USB stick drive, or use another hard drive to run the system from. Do not run the data recovery software from the drive needing repair. Again, try to run the software from some other source like a USB memory stick. Now a days, many operating systems come with a set of data recovery tools packaged with their installation programs. This can help make the job of recovering your lost data much easier.
To find these tools, simply find your installation disks for your operating system and put the first disk in the computer. It should guide you from there.

When faced with the possibility of lost data don't panic. There is always a chance that your important document, photos, and music files can be saved. And, when in doubt consult a professional.

Difference Between In-The-Money ITM, Out-Of-The-Money OTM, Or At-The-Money ATM

By John Roney

An option can be described by its strike price's proximity to the stock's price. An option can either be in-the-money (ITM), out-of-the-money (OTM), or at-the-money (ATM).

An at-the-money option is described as an option whose exercise or strike price is approximately equal to the present price of the underlying stock.

For instance, if Microsoft (MSFT) was trading at $65.00, then the January $65.00 call would an example of an at-the-money call option. Similarly, the January $65.00 put would be an example of an at-the-money put option.

An in-the-money call option is described as a call whose strike (exercise) price is lower than the present price of the underlying. An in-the-money put is a put whose strike (exercise) price is higher than the present price of the underlying, i.e. an option which could be exercised immediately for a cash credit should the option buyer wish to exercise the option.

In our Microsoft example above, an in-the-money call option would be any listed call option with a strike price below $65.00 (the price of the stock). So, the MSFT January 60 call option would be an example of an in-the-money call.

The reason is that at any time prior to the expiration date, you could exercise the option and
profit from the difference in value: in this case $5.00 ($65.00 stock price - $60.00 call option strike price = $5.00 of intrinsic value). In other words, the option is $5.00 "in-the-money."

Using our Microsoft example, an in-the-money put option would be any listed put option with a strike price above $65.00 (the price of the stock). The MSFT January 70 put option would be an example of an in-the-money put.

It is in-the-money because at any time prior to the expiration date, you could exercise the option and profit from the difference in value: in this case $5.00 ($70.00 put option strike price - $65.00 stock price = $5.00 of intrinsic value. In other words, the option is $5.00 "in-the-money."

An out-of-the-money call is described as a call whose exercise price (strike price) is higher than the present price of the underlying. Thus, an out-of-the-money call option's entire premium consists of only extrinsic value.

There is no intrinsic value in an out-of-the-money call because the option's strike price is higher than the current stock price. For example, if you chose to exercise the MSFT January 70 call while the stock was trading at $65.00, you would essentially be choosing to buy the stock for $70.00 when the stock is trading at $65.00 in the open market. This action would result in a $5.00 loss. Obviously, you wouldn't do that.

An out-of-the-money put has an exercise price that is lower than the present price of the underlying. Thus, an out-of-the-money put option's entire premium consists of only extrinsic value.

There is no intrinsic value in an out-of-the-money put because the option's strike price is lower than the current stock price. For example, if you chose to exercise the MSFT January 60 put while the stock was trading at$65.00, you would be choosing to sell the stock at $60.00 when the stock is trading at $65.00 in the open market. This action would result in a $5.00 loss. Obviously, you would not want to do that.

Smart Moms Tips for Getting Traffic To Your Website

By Rebekah Kogelschatz

If you are new to internet businesses, you may be wondering how you get traffic to your site to increase the page ranking on the search engines or to increase sales. There many wonderful resources that are available to help you increase your “search engine optimization” including help with key words and website design that are primary in getting traffic to your site. After the basics are in place, what next? Do you sit back and wait for the customers or visitors or do you find ways to bring them to you? These three simple tips can help you increase the traffic to your site, thereby increasing hits, sales, and page rankings.

The first tip is writing articles. This is an often overlooked way of getting traffic. Most people do not pursue article writing because they are afraid to write (it brings back bad memories of high school English)! Most people can write a simple article, find someone to proof read it, or find someone to write the final draft from your ideas. You will be amazed at what you can create.

By writing articles and submitting them to article submission sites, you are increasing your traffic in two ways. First, most submission sites allow you to include your personal information and a link to your site (in fact, don’t submit to sites that don’t allow at least one link). Some allow up to three links, like EzineArticles.com. People can browse the submission site for content to include on their own site, ezine, or blog. From the article site, they can click right on your link to your website and see what you have to offer. The second way to get more traffic from these articles is when these searches like what they read and include it on their site or ezine. They must include you bio with the links intact. Then those that read your article are able to click to your site from your links. This technique gives people the opportunity to find your site through a variety of pathways, all for free.

The other important part of the article submission technique are the links. Not only is your article with your site link on the article site, it is also on every site that publishes it. This is great for the search engine spiders to see that people have linked to your site and helps your page rankings.

Links are the second important tip to increase traffic and page rankings. You can include links to other sites, but it important those sites link back. Reciprocal linking is another piece search engines use to rank pages. If you have multiple sites, you should have them all linked together.
You should also find complementing sites that allow for free link exchanges or exchanges for a small fee. Then you include the link to that site on your site and they link back. This also provides more opportunities for people to find your site through other means.

The third tip is to change your website content. Websites that have content changes will increase in page rank. Be sure your website is not stagnant. Change your content every few weeks in some way, even small minor changes. Use articles you find on the article submission sites to provide some new information and ideas to your readers or write the content yourself.

Another great way to change your content frequently is to have a blog attached to your site.
Since blogs are frequently added to daily or weekly, they increase page rankings. Also, people may find and read your blog and then find your site, increasing the hits on your site. Make sure your blog is relevant and uses key words for titles and content. Not only will people want to read it, the search engines will like it to!

These three simple techniques can help to increase traffic to your site and help increase your page rankings. Internet businesses are all about your page rank and the amount of hits you receive. The higher the page rank and the higher the hits, the more likely you are to increase your sales and profit from your site.

Five Affordable World Travel Destinations

By C.J. Gustafson

Five Affordable World Travel Destinations

Locations That Offer More But Cost Less
So you want to travel the world but you have a tight budget? Are you tired of reading about everyone else’s exotic adventures and ready to have some of your own? Have you always wanted to take an international vacation but thought you couldn’t afford it? There are numerous travel destinations across the world that are both exciting and affordable. Five of them are described here to give you ideas and get you started planning your own getaway.
There are two ways to approach affordable vacations to distant destinations. Either you will save money getting there or the savings will occur once you arrive at your selected spot. If you want the trip there to be affordable, many travel consolidators recommend choosing well-known destinations that are served by numerous airlines and receive millions of travelers each year. The competition for customers usually drives costs down for everything from lodging to tour packages. Airfares between major hubs tend to be more affordable and there are often plenty of discounts and last minute travel deals.

London
In Europe, London is a top pick for affordable vacation destinations, for these exact reasons. Not only do you have more flights to choose from, they are cheaper than if you flew to a more remote location. On average, staying in London may be a bit more expensive than other European destinations, but the seemingly endless choices in hotels, restaurants, transportation, tours, and other travel essentials gives travels opportunities to mold their vacation to fit their budgets. And you can use London as your home base to set out on day trips to other more exotic locations or buy a Eurorail pass and see those more remote countries without the expense of flying there.

Playa del Carmen, Mexico
This theory also works well for traveling in the Caribbean. Belize is an appealing destination, with wonderful Caribbean beaches and a lush tropic setting, but since it has only recently emerged as a popular travel destination, it is more expensive than Cancun, Jamaica or other well-traveled locations along the Mayan Riviera. With fewer flights, getting there is more expensive, and there are few moderate lodging options. Development of larger luxury resorts have begun to boom, but the only real alternative for those on a budget is staying in local facilities that may be hard to locate from home and may be more rustic than most travelers are willing to try.

Although there are many options for affordable vacations in the Caribbean, an excellent pick is Playa del Carmen, Mexico. Accessible via flights to Cancun, which are often some of the cheapest in the region, Playa is just a half hour away. It is filled with a multitude of lodging choices, from expansive luxury resorts on the ocean to quaint but clean hotels downtown. From Playa, travelers can branch out and visit Tulum and other locations on the Mayan Riviera or take the ferry across to the island of Cozumel where snorkeling is prime and the attractions are many.
For Asian destinations, travelers often do better to focus on saving money once they get to their destination. Depending on your country of origin, getting to just about any spot in Asia is going to be a sizable chunk of your travel budget. The difference will come from the cost of lodging, food, entertainment and other travel expenditures once you arrive. By choosing destinations where you get the most for your money, you can save a great deal on your international vacation. A drink or dinner in Tokyo will costs you many times more than what it would in Saigon. The key here is to go where you dollars buy you more and where the local cost of living is low.

Tioman Island
An affordable yet exotic choice for Asia is Malaysia and specifically Tioman Island, knows as the mythical 'Bali Hai' from the film 'South Pacific.’ Tioman Island is located at the southern end of the east coast of Malaysia on the South China Sea. It’s sandy beaches, bordered by lush jungles and stunning mountains make it a relaxing yet intriguing destination, ideal for sun lovers, snorkelers and divers. The island also has many villages for exploring and shopping. English is widely spoken and the rates are amazingly affordable, with a two night lodging package for a suite at a lovely oceanside resort averaging around 100 U.S. dollars. Typically visitors reach the island via the speed ferry from the mainland. Although the trip can take over two hours, it is enjoyable and provides opportunities for dolphin watching along the way.

Buenos Aires
South American also has many destinations that are affordable because of the savings once you arrive. Locales like Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, the areas top destination, are coming down in price but are still more expensive than cities such as Buenos Aires in Argentina, where the rates are lower and the U.S. dollar goes further.

A huge metropolis that is more European than South American, the city has much to offer including cultural events, thriving nightlife, shopping, local sports, and a host of tours and excursions. La Boca, with its street performers, shops, and unique architecture is a big tourist draw. The large number of choices for lodging, restaurants, and activities provides opportunities for budget travel and savings. Airfare to the city is relatively reasonable for an international destination, with discount fares from the U.S. averaging around $500 round trip. Buenos Aires might not be one of the most exotic or inspiring destinations in South America, but it is a city that everyone should see at least once, and with some of the most affordable rates and fares around, it makes the list as a top South American destination.

Las Vegas
The list would not be complete without a North American destination, and the champ of all affordable locales is Las Vegas. It too is a city that should be seen at least once, and many world travelers return again and again for the gaming, art, shows and people watching that just can’t be found anywhere else. Close enough to other top U.S. attractions like the Grand Canyon, Vegas provides other options for those who have had their fill of casinos.

The city has long been known for its cheap vacation packages with hotels and resorts that offer discount rates for rooms, meals and entertainment in hopes of attracting people to their gaming tables. Airfare rates into Vegas are some of the most reasonable in the United States, no matter the origination destination. And with more than 100,000 hotel rooms to choose from, there is sure to be a lodging choice that fits your budget.

The world provides hundreds of affordable travel destinations. With all the options available, there is no excuse to put off that life-long desire to travel to exotic places at the far ends of the earth. Destinations can be researched on the Internet or your travel consolidator can make recommendations and help with locating discount flights and hotel deals that fit your budget. So what are you waiting for? Get out there and explore the world.

Hawaii Christmas - Oahu Events, Holiday Airfares

By Cindy Blankenship

Christmas in Hawaii this year is as festive as ever, and some very well priced, holiday airfares can be found (at last check as low as $300 from US West Coast). Whether your vacation is budget or extravagant, you can create some beautiful holiday memories on Oahu.

Hawaiian Christmas memories are among my favorite remembrances of living in Hawaii.
Listening to the children belt out their favorites like "Here Comes Santa in a Red Canoe," and the Hawaiian version of "The 12 Days of Christmas," and hearing "Silent Night" sung in English and Hawaiian by an angelic choir on a balmy evening under the stars with palm trees swaying are experiences not to be missed.Just walking downtown is a delight during the holidays.

And I'll never forget arriving at the Honolulu Airport for the first time during the holiday season and being in awe of the towering tree all decked out with huge, lauhala woven pineapples and golden lights.

Holidays in Hawaii, especially Christmas are widely celebrated. This is a very churched community, but even many of the Buddhist families participate in Christmas traditions, especially the Japanese-Americans who come who have a reputation for loving to give gifts.
If you're visiting the islands for the holidays, you will find a myriad of Christmas events on Oahu, actually on all the islands, but more so on Oahu.

In Hawaii, Santa gives his reindeer a Christmas break and arrives in a canoe, barefoot, tanned and with his red furry pants rolled up. On Oahu, his first stop is, as it is for most of Hawaii's visitors, Waikiki Beach in Honolulu. Keiki (children) visit their Hawaiian Santa at various cities on Oahu throughout the season.

While at Christmas time, many of the islanders enjoy watching the visitors in awe of this warm, friendly climate in the dead of winter, they also enjoy imagining what a white Christmas would be like. You'll hear many of the traditional mainland songs, like "Winter Wonderland" and "Jingle Bells."

Some Hawaiians though do have a white Christmas, that is if they're on the Big Island (island of Hawaii) and drive up above the tree line to the 10,000 foot high snowcapped peaks of Mauna Kea, transforming their boogie boards into sleds and building snowmen! With the current, cheap airfares from between Oahu and Neighbor Islands,a side trip from Oahu to the Big Island is more affordable than its been in a long time.

It's fun swapping tropical and white Christmas stories with locals. For us visitors it's especially fun to write home about how we spent our Christmas day on a beach! Some newcomers to Hawaii will even bring miniature trees down to the beach, although Hawaii has plenty Christmas trees. On Oahu,as on the other islands, trees from the mainland are sold. And, Hawaii has its own Christmas tree: the island Norfolk Pine. The tree doesn't have the spicy pine scent, but its largely spaced branches are wonderfully easy to decorate.

Hawaiian Christmas tree decorations are found everywhere. Craft fairs are great for finding local style ones: coconut frond woven ornaments, kukui nut and tapa cloth angels, Santas on surfboards in canoes and riding dolphins; along with beautiful wreaths made of island flowers and greenery.

Many of these craft fairs are events in themselves, complete with Hawaiian Christmas entertainment and food. You'll find many of these listed along with other holiday Oahu events in newspapers and free magazines at the airport.

Some of my favorite Oahu events at Christmas are the light displays in Honolulu and the music – choirs, orchestras and local style bands are found everywhere with free concerts at malls and on the beach. Adding to the holiday fun, many of Hawaii's most popular musicians like the Brothers Cazimero and Don Ho perform regularly in Waikiki.

The Honolulu City Lights (the city was given permission by Keola and Kapono Beamer to use the name of their all time hit song) is a spectacular display throughout Honolulu, including Waikiki, making Oahu a good pick for a Hawaiian holiday vacation.

The month-long, traditional festivities begin with the Kawaiahao Church Service in Honolulu (This was the first Christian church built in Hawaii and is extraordinary), the lighting of the City's 63-foot Norfolk Pine at Honolulu Hale (City Hall) and an electric parade and concert on December 3; however festivities continue throughout the holiday season.

For example, the Honolulu City Lights Trolley Tours run from December 8 to 30. The $2.50 fare (under age 4 free) benefits the Hawaii Food bank. For details, visit Honolulu Hale If you go, be sure to check out the other Oahu event calendars mentioned above as well as this one's. And check out the holiday airfares at places like Hawaiian Airlines and Hotwire.com.

Christmas Vacations On Tropical Islands

By Aimee C. Barnard

It’s 3 months before Christmas and if you want to get away from home during this holiday season, it’s time to make plans to ensure a stress-free Christmas vacation!

Some people may traditionally prefer to go where the snow is, where it’s freezing, and where Santa has no problems wearing ultra-thick clothes.

I recommend going where the sun shines the whole day, where you can frolic on white sand beaches and swim in the warm sea, where you can go shopping in exotic stores wearing only a pair of sandals and Bermuda shorts and a Hawaiian shirt.

Already excited? Well, read on and find out more about these 5 islands that you’re bound to want to visit during the Yuletide season.

Solitude In Fiji
Explore one of The Pacific’s beautiful and more popular islands, Fiji. Be right on a tropical island and not miss Christmas at all! You can easily go to Christmas-focused community activities if you really miss the yuletide season and experience Christmas with a Fijian twist. And if you really want to get away from it all, just go to the beach or laze in your very own bure ( thatched hut )

Activities: diving, beach, spa, snorkeling, island cruise, wildlife exploration

Ave. temperature during Christmas: 23°F -29°F

Exotic Seychelles
Seychelles was once referred to by British General Charles Gordon as the site of the Garden Of Eden and it’s difficult to disagree with him. Its pristine white sand beaches, turquoise blue water, and exotic blend of flora and fauna can easily make you think that this is the garden the Bible refers to.

Activities: beach, diving and snorkeling, sailing, honeymoon, wedding, island hopping

Ave. temperature during Christmas: 24°C-31°C

Tenerife Spain – Cultural & Wildlife Vacations
Who says the whole of Europe is a winter wonderland during Christmas? Go to Tenerife in Spain’s Canary Islands and you’re in for a big surprise. Dubbed as Europe’s winter playground, Tenerife, is referred to as the island of eternal spring. It is home to Spain’s 2nd highest peak, the Volcano Teide, has a flourishing national park, and of course some of the archipelago’s best beach hideaways.

Activities: Visits to archaeological sites, art and natural history museums, explore the Guimar Pyramids, nudist beaches, visit the national park

Ave. temperature during Christmas: 19°C-23°C

Holidays Down Under – Fraser Island Australia
If you want to be just a stone throw away from the Great Barrier Reef, be ensconced in wildlife, explore tropical rainforests and laze on pristine beaches, Fraser Island is the place to be. This World Heritage Site is rich in flora and fauna and is the world’s largest sand island.

Activities: wilderness safari, rainforest treks, dolphin watching, camping, fishing

Ave. temperature during Christmas: 20°C-29°C

The Caribbean Beat In Barbados
It’s the Caribbean island where dignitaries such as Tony Blair and Bill Clinton indulge in holiday pleasures. And you too can go this Christmas and see what the island has to offer. Bask in the beauty of this delightful Caribbean island; experience its very unique culture which was formed by the distinct and unique influences of the British and the Africans. And laze on its 95 kilometers of unspoiled white sand beach.

Activities: beach, water sports, underwater exploration by submarine, golf, cave exploration, island safari

Ave. temperature during Christmas: 24°C-28°C

What Not To Wear

By Sheila Dicks

What makes certain styles of pants so popular? One reason is fashion and the other comfort. Two examples of pants bought for comfort are tapered leg jeans or pants and Capri pants. Younger women flock low-rise jeans because they are fashionable. Both Capri pants and low-rise jeans look best on tall, slim silhouettes - how many 'real’ women are tall and slim? The truth is that the majority of the female population does not have 'Barbie' figures so those styles instead of looking great actually accentuate flaws.

To look your best take your body type into consideration before choosing to wear the latest fashion. You will appear slimmer and more fashionable if you wear clothing that suits your body type. Lets look at cropped pants, low-rise jeans and high-rise tapered jeans and decide what to wear and what not to wear.

Cropped pants (pedal pushers, Capri, clam diggers) end usually somewhere in-between the knee and the ankle, What they do:

* Make you look shorter

* Make you hips look larger

* Your legs look shorter

* Your ankles thicker

However, some of these problems can be avoided depending on the style of Capri pant. Capris that are the best choice:

* Dark in color

* Plain color (no prints)

* End just below the knee

* Have tapered legs (more fitted at the bottom)

* Worn with a tiny sandal

* Without cuffs

Most young women like to wear low-rise jeans despite how ill fitting they might be. Low- rise jeans sit below the hips about 3 inches below the belly button. Low-rise jeans can:

* Make a thick waist look thicker

* Narrow hips look more narrow

* A long waist look longer

* Short legs, shorter

* Can make you look 10 lbs larger

This style (low-rise) is flattering only to those who are absolutely slim. Don’t be discouraged. You can still wear jeans that look great and wear them low, but not low enough that they create bulges. Wear them:

* Not too tight

* Approximately 1 inch below the belly button.

High-rise, tapered pants fit snuggly around the waist with a leg that tapers in close to the ankle.
If you own and wear high-rise tapered pants or jeans get rid of them now unless you want your:

* Hips to look wider and larger

* Tummy to look bigger

A better choice is straight or wide leg pant with a flat front.

Top Family Vacation Destinations

By Jolana Klobouk

Planning a family beach vacation? Looking for destinations with family resorts that have fun sports and activities for the whole family, all inclusive resorts where meals are included and kid clubs? Here are some of the most popular beach destinations for families to unwind and relax:

Mexico
Mexico, especially the Cancun area, and Mayan Riviera, an hour’s drive south of Cancun, is a popular place for family beach vacations. The Mayan Riviera is one of the regions of Mexico - and the world- which offers the richest variety of landscapes and archaeological treasures including Mayan ruins, coral reef, snorkelling lagoons, and eco-theme parks such as Xcaret. Hotels, resorts, restaurants, and attractions throughout Mexico welcome families with open arms.

Jamaica
Jamaica is considered by many to be the most beautiful of all the Caribbean Islands and is one of the top family-vacation destinations in the Caribbean. Many of Jamaica’s resorts offer supervised children's activities, babysitters, family discounts, and kid's meals. Jamaica has an abundance of top all-inclusive chains including: Sandals Beaches, SuperClubs Breezes resorts and Club Med. There are also many other family vacation options such as the Franklyn D. Resort in Runaway Bay, Jamaica, where families have their own vacation nanny during their stay.

Turks and Caicos
On a 12-mile stretch of satiny white-sand, Beaches Turks & Caicos is one of the premier family resorts on the island. With separate programs for infants, toddlers and teens, each is designed to give each age the activities they love. So when you're off doing your thing, they're off doing theirs. There are many other resorts to stay at this idyllic family beach destination

Bahamas
Home to the Atlantis Bahamas resort and many other excellent family resorts, there will not be a dull moment on your Bahamas family vacation. Blessed with the perfect location-less than 100 miles off the coast of Florida, the perfect climate- averaging a little over 75 degrees, and the perfect surroundings-crystal clear turquoise blue waters and pearly white beaches, the Islands of the Bahamas is the perfect destination for your next family beach vacation.

Hawaii
A Family Hawaii Vacation has it all. Beautiful beaches, world-class golf, surfing, shopping, swimming, top notch hotels, condominiums, eco tours, national parks, warm weather, and cool ocean breezes. The four islands that are popular for a family Hawaii Vacation are Oahu, Maui, the Big Island and Kauai.

Florida
Florida is a popular family beach destination because the climate is warm year round, it is easy to get to, it offers good value for your money, there are endless options for sightseeing and attractions for you family depending on what area you are in, and the beaches in Florida are numerous. In addition to beach destinations and of course Walt Disney World, there are tons of other family outings including Universal Studios, Sea World, Bush Gardens and many more.
Don’t Forget Family Cruises

This is a very popular family vacation option and my personal favorite. Cruises with kids offer great value, choice and freedom! There are a lot of misconceptions about cruising such as it is only for older people and not suited for families, it is too rigid, there is nothing to do, you’ll feel trapped, you’ll get seasick, it’s too expensive! All is these statements are false and could not be further from the truth. Bring your kids along on almost any cruise and they'll have the time of their lives.

Top 10 Winter Getaways

By Cassandra Stinchcombe

Summer is typically the season that everyone thinks of when planning their vacations. But why not dare to be different and take a winter vacation getaway instead? If you are a skier, snowboarder, or just someone who enjoys the winter months, a winter vacation may be just what you have been looking for. There are plenty of spots around the world that make spectacular winter getaways.

Hershey. If you are traveling before or during the Christmas season, consider Hershey, Pennsylvania as your vacation destination. The home of Hershey's candy, Hershey Park becomes home to Christmas Candyland, where over one million Christmas lights are put on display. Christmas Candyland typically runs for a month prior to Christmas.

Sweden. Located in the small riverside village of Jukkasjarvi, Sweden, Sweden's Ice Hotel is famous worldwide for great winter vacations. The hotel is created each winter out of 10,000 tons of ice from the nearby river and 30,000 tons of snow. The hotel features the famous Absolut Ice Bar, a winter favorite for the 21+ crowd.

Yellowstone. During the winter the Yellowstone National Park, a popular summer destination in the United States, offers Lodging and Learning programs where guests of all ages can stay at Yellowstone and participate in educational lessons during the winter. These programs offer a great way for visitors of all ages to learn about the beautiful and fascinating Yellowstone Park.

Wisconsin Dells. This small Wisconsin town offers a great winter vacation at the Great Wolf Lodge, home of huge indoor water parks. Great Wolf Lodge is a popular destination for families. Visitors of Wisconsin Dells get the best of both worlds with summertime perpetually recreated indoors and snow falling outdoors. Wisconsin Dells is located near both Milwaukee and Madison, Wisconsin.

New England. One of the most historical areas in the United States, New England is where the country was founded. In addition to the number of historical sites throughout the six states that make up the region (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont), you will also find plenty to do in the winter months. Maine offers one of the nicest ski resorts in the country in Sugarloaf USA, or you can try the beautiful White Mountain area of New Hampshire where you will find a plethora of ski resorts and the historical Mount Washington, the highest peak in the Northeastern United States.

Orlando. If skiing is not really your thing and you are looking to get away from the snow for a few weeks then travel to Florida, one of the most frequented states in the US by vacationers each year. Walt Disney World offers discounted rates during specific periods of the winter months, considered the theme park's off-season. Not only will the parks and restaurants be less crowded than during summer or a school vacation week, but you will be able to enjoy the beautiful Florida weather during your stay.

Caribbean. Why not take a cruise during the winter months? Like Florida, a Caribbean cruise offers a change of pace from the snowy, cold winter months that you may be used to. Winter is typically a perfect time for a cruise because the weather in the Caribbean has calmed down. Summer is hurricane season, spelling trouble for cruises but winter is perfect for calm seas and a relaxing cruise.

Mont Tremblant. Located in the spectacular Laurentian Mountains of the Canadian province of Quebec, Mont Tremblant offers its visitors over 600 acres of land for skiing and snowboarding.
Perhaps the best choice if you are looking to take to the slopes, keep in mind that the US dollar is worth more in Canada and can go further than it would on a vacation in the United States.

Alaska. If you are traveling with children, Alaska may be the perfect vacation choice for you.
Offering everything from dog sledding, one of Alaska's most popular sports, to viewing the Northern lights, Alaska is one of the best winter vacation destinations. Although it is notorious for its cold, wintry weather, Alaska also holds a number of entertainment options that are likely to keep the whole family busy.

Lake Tahoe. For decades Lake Tahoe has been one of the top winter vacation destinations in the world. Located on the border of Nevada and California just west of Carson City, Nevada, you will find that Lake Tahoe has plenty of activities for everyone in the family. Lake Tahoe averages 360 inches of snow each year, making for a winter wonderland of fun on your winter vacation.
There are a number of high quality resorts around picturesque Lake Tahoe and the Rocky Mountains make a fabulous backdrop for the perfect getaway.

Travel Diary in Antigua

By Jan Gamm

Travelling somewhat light since the Memsahib pushed herself off the old mortal whatsit, I pitched up in Antigua looking for a little peace and quiet, a bit of a sanctuary in which to rest my old skeleton. Not quite in my dotage, although almost, and not yet resolved to spending the best half of every day thrashing about in a rocking chair with the Times crossword, I felt I wanted something more than the usual hotel room with 24 minute room service and a mouldy croissant chucked through the door on demand each morning.

My friend Fruity Smyth-Wiggins always swears by any five star hotel on his club’s recommended list. He says you know where you are with a referral. Discounts for members are thrown around like jelly babies at certain times of year and you can always pick up a bit of a bargain for the summer jaunt if you are in the right place at the right time. Fruity tends to go in for rather more tranquility than I can stand, though. Still, if you like boring yourself to death for three weeks playing Scrabble and drinking formaldehyde with a brigade of old dears, Fruity is the man to see about it.

I decided this year to try something completely new and booked myself a private holiday home in Antigua. This was the best decision I made since the flu jab I can tell you, the house was terrific, there was plenty to do, plenty to see and loads of lovely restaurants to visit. There was a private swimming pool, and a cool, wide patio where I ate my breakfast most mornings.

Antigua has to be one of the lovliest places on earth to spend a holiday. The bright blue of the sea and the endless blue sky are just two reasons for this, and the jolly little bars round the beach areas proved an excellent pit stop for me to while away the afternoons. I consumed large amounts of pink gin, flirted shamelessly with a surprisingly youthful granny from Budleigh Salterton and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Not a Scrabble board in sight.

I had to hurry to get everything in that I wanted to do before the holiday came to an end. I managed to visit the Sugar Mill and Shirley Heights on my last two days and yet found myself wistfully wondering whether I could extend for a few days.

I took the plunge (figuratively I assure you) and chartered a boat. I came home after a day’s sailing, refreshed and invigorated and looking forward to dinner. Everything is so bracing in these beautiful islands, swept by the trade winds and warmed by the sun for so many summer months. The food just tasted better to me, perhaps because I was having such a great holiday.
There was always someone to have a drink with, that’s what I liked.

I invited Fruity to come with me next time.

Have You Considered a Ranch Vacation?

By Peter S. Mason

If you like your open spaces then a ranch holiday may be just what you are looking for. With wide open plains, fresh, crisp mountain air and plenty of open space for miles around, a ranch vacation really does offer a very different kind of holiday experience.

Generally a ranch holiday can help you to bond with the family, forget about the stresses of every day life and give you something exciting to do all at the same time. What more could you possibly ask for on a vacation?

Going on a Dude Ranch Holiday
It was when most of the West had been explored that Dude ranches set up in business. It was people from the East who wanted to come and explore the West and all that it had to offer who really inspired the Dude ranch to set up.

Not used to seeing or handling so many tourists, the West relied upon the Dude ranch to allow Easterners to stay and experience life in the West. Providing them with all of the activities which they might expect from the west, the Dude ranch quickly became more and more popular as time went on. This made them expand and lodges were built to accommodate more guests and a lot of profit was made. These days the ranching experience is still really popular and it really does provide you with a completely different type of holiday which you are likely never to forget.

Preparing For a Ranch Holiday
Before you rush off and enjoy your ranch vacation, you really should take several things into account. Without proper preparation you may not have the best time possible so it is essential to prepare as much as you can.

Firstly you need to decide where you want the ranching holiday to be. There are many farm holidays situated all around and all of them will provide you with a different experience. This is because different activities will be offered at different ranches and so it all really depends upon what you want to do when you get there. Also the type of activities that you choose will have a direct effect upon how much the vacation will be. So make sure that you have an idea of what kind of budget you can afford and stick to it.

Overall outdoor holidays really can be excellent for the whole family. It is not just a vacation which allows you to forget about the stresses of every day life, it is also a whole new experience which can be really exciting. A ranching holiday may not be everyone’s idea of a good time, but it is surprising just how good they can actually be.

Where to Find Holiday Work

By Ken C. Morris

Volunteering during your vacation is a wonderful way to give back to those in need and make you feel like you accomplished something special. Most people earn at least two weeks a year in vacation time, so taking a few of those days and donating some time to charity can really make a difference in your life and the lives of many others. There are many charity organizations that need volunteers to help serve meals, teach classes, build homes and activity centers, and other jobs. If you have experience in any of these areas or you want to learn a new skill, volunteering is a good way to do so.

Look in your community newspaper, church bulletin, or online to find organizations that are local. Call and ask which types of positions are available and give the organization the dates that you will be available. Even if it is just a few days, most organizations would be thrilled to have your help. Make sure you get all the details before committing your time so you can plan accordingly.

Because natural disasters can strike at any time, you want to volunteer to help clear debris, organize food drives, or deliver supplies to those who need them. This is a good way to use your vacation time, especially if you have a lot of days saved up. In these types of situations, being able to give time will be appreciated by rescue workers, other volunteers, and those you are helping.

Since many volunteer organizations plan events in advance, you will be able to plan your vacation around these events. Contacting these organizations is the best way to find out more information.

If you have teaching experience and want to visit a new part of the world, volunteering your time to teach English as a second language or other courses is a great way to learn about other cultures. This type of volunteer work will take longer than a few days, however. If you have a few weeks of vacation time saved, then you should consider this type of volunteer work. There are many countries that have programs in place that help people learn new languages and other skills.

Even if you cannot donate a lot of time, taking a long weekend here and there is enough time for you to help raise money for volunteer organizations by participating in organizing fundraisers, collection money, or by spreading the word about the organization to others. Many people volunteer to answer phones during telethons, go door to door for donations, or write press releases and other items that can be published in order to help an organization gain a little more exposure.

Donating your time is just as important as donating money. If you have traveled extensively, or you are looking to travel to another country you have not been to before, volunteering is one way to enjoy something new while helping others.

The technical writer Ken Morris is passionate about ideas related to Costa Dorada and Spain. Writing for publications, the columnist demonstrated his depth of understanding on topics dealing with Costa Blanca.

Travel Preparation for Your Next Vacation

By Robert J. Carlton

When planning your vacation, you make sure all arrangements are made in advance. These may include rental car, air travel, hotel, and tickets to events that may be very popular. But do you put as much effort into packing as you should? Most people do not and find themselves without many items once they arrive. Being prepared means thinking ahead and packing items that will help you have a great time when on vacation.

Most people spend the majority of their time packing clothing they will not wear. Pack a maximum of seven outfits when going on vacation. You will be able to mix and match pieces to create even more outfits. Depending on where you are going, pack the appropriate clothing so you will not be too warm or cold. Packing items together as a way to save space will allow you to take less luggage on your trip. Putting socks into your shoes, bringing clothing that is light and not bulky will also take up less room.

If you will be traveling with children, the same clothing rules apply. Because children have a tendency to get their clothing dirty more often than adults, pack a few extra shirts so they will have enough for the entire vacation. Older children should be allowed to pack their own clothing.
This will give them more responsibility and give you more time to focus on other items that need to be packed.

Writing a list of all other items besides clothing will help with travel preparation. Remember to bring medications, first aid kit, toothpaste, and any other items you feel are important. Having a list will make it easier for you to remember everything you will need. Keeping these items in a small back pack will make them easier to find when you need them.

The last items you should remember to pack are travel directions. Knowing where you are going will make it much easier to get there. If traveling by car, buy a map or a portable GPS unit so you will always know where you are and how far you are from your destination. If traveling overseas, make sure you have your passport and visas handy.

While you can never prepare for everything that will happen during your trip, you should try to plan in advance, especially if you will be traveling with children. Another way to plan for your vacation is to think about which activities you plan on participating in. If you will be taking a tour, call the tour guide company to see if there is anything special you should bring with you.

Preparing for a trip may mean making a small trip to local stores in the area you are vacationing in. Most hotels and resorts have toothpaste and other items in case you forget anything. Just ask at the desk and get what you need.

Why Choose a Private Rental?

By Jan Gamm

The world is full of wonderful hotels with state of the art facilities, so why opt for a private vacation rental, you ask yourself? Some of the advantages in renting a private home for your holiday instead of checking into a hotel are that you will enjoy all the freedom and privacy on offer, without any of the inconvenience of constantly being on view to other guests and under the supervision, however discreet, of hotel management.

Many of the world’s more exclusive private rental homes offer similar facilities to that of a seven star hotel. Resident chefs produce mouth watering meals on demand, housekeepers turn down beds and run baths at just the right moment and invisible housemaids whisk away your laundry, returning it mysteriously while you are away from your room, pristine clean and pressed and ready to wear again, the art of silent service at its very best.

Linens, tableware, and displayed art, are very much to the taste of the owner and usually of a better standard than anything you will find in hotels. Some of the more expensive homes on offer are owned or were formally owned by celebrities. It is quite possible nowadays to stay in Marilyn Munro’s California home, James Cagney’s former home which he managed to lose in a game of poker, or even to charter the Christina O, Aristotle Onassis’ legendary floating palace, where Winston Churchill propped up the bar in company with John F Kennedy.

You can stay in the beautiful Chateau Vilette in Paris where Tom Hanks filmed the Da Vinci Code, or take the time to appreciate the true English elegance of St Catherine’s Court, Jane Seymour’s outstanding country home in Bath.

Many private rental homes offer a full service package with the rental, such as use of cars, boats, and even the groceries are already purchased and waiting for your arrival. Chef will whiz up a tasty breakfast and have it served on your private terrace adjoining the master bedroom, sir. Yummy. Would Madam be requiring the driver this morning? Oh yes please. This is the stuff real holidays are made of.

Other private homes, not less comfortable but perhaps of lighter profile, are easily affordable and sometimes are far better value than a hotel package. Provided you take the precaution of booking your rental with a reputable company you can be sure you will want to return again and again.

www.selectvillarentals.com has a wide range of such properties to browse through and dream about.

Planning a RV Vacation

By Jack S. Blacksmith

RV vacations are becoming a more popular and economical way to go for many families who want to see all they can on their holiday.

If you stick with flying from one destination to another and then renting a hotel room and car for that town, it can be budget breaking and inconvenient. On the financial side, there are the expenses of various airline tickets, then a number of hotels and all the car fees to have a vehicle to get around. Why not just be in a mobile hotel and have all your accommodations with you as you go from place to place. That is what an RV provides. You can unpack just once, and still visit town after town that you can explore at your leisure, and at the end of the day, return to the RV which has all the comforts of home, get a little shut-eye then head out to the next town without having to repack your bags or deal with time-consuming airport security.

If you travel a lot, purchasing an RV may be a wise investment. Likely when you first look at the price tag of a large recreational vehicle you may think it’s too much to pay for a vehicle, but traveling by road trip instead of by air will save you money in the long run. It’s an investment that will pay for itself every time you don’t have to purchase an airline ticket or hotel room. In addition, every meal will not have to be an expensive restaurant meal since most RV’s have a cooking area where you can still enjoy home-cooked meals together.

If you have kids, an RV holiday has many benefits. Think of the last time you tried to get the kids to sit still while you waited hours for a flight, or while you were checking in to the hotel. They are fidgety, fussy and a handful. But, if you were in a RV there is room for games, TV, DVD players and all sorts of things to keep them entertained throughout the trip.

When planning a RV trip, you will be pleased to know there are places to stop for the night almost everywhere. If you really want a great location to stop, check out the directory of National Parks and State Forests where you are planning to be and see if you can stay on the property. Parks such as Yellowstone allow you to camp there with your RV so you can enjoy the breathtaking view and history of the location and already be home at the end of the day instead of having to drive to a hotel.

Not everyone likes to rough it when they are out on the road, and if you’re one of them, you may need to choose your RV camping area a little more carefully. Check ahead to make sure they have hot showers and other facilities you and your family would like. Some even have restaurants, lounges and bars for the adults as well as play areas for the kids.

Masai Mara Safari Kenya Africa-Best Masai Mara Safari Lodge Kenya

By Robert Muhoho

If you love hippos, the Mara Safari Club Kenya is the place for you! Set along the looping Mara River at the northeastern part of the Mara, this luxury tented lodge combines the romance of Masai Mara tented accommodations with all the security and comforts of a grand lodge. From the effusive hostess who greats you in her stylish African dress, to the pool which is heated, the Mara safari club aims to please in every way.

The spacious lodge, built of dark wood logs with high peaked ceilings, is sited on the edge of the Mara River. The open-plan, multi level design follows the curve of the river. Although the Masai mara lodge includes reception, dining room, bar, fireplace, lounge and gift shop, its unusual and asymmetrical shape helps to mask its size.

A wooden deck curves along the outside of the Mara lodge over the banks of the river. Here are two pleasant and shaded seating areas with nice views of the river and the resident hippos.
The hippos are a highlight of staying at the Kenya Mara safari club. You can see and hear them in the river-often from the deck of your tent. There something humorous and special about lying in a tent at night listening to hippo wuffles and snorts! The high, steep banks of the river and electric fences ensure that they do not wander into camp.

Each of the 45 tents is near the edge of the river bank. The Kenya safari tents are raised on high wooden decks, and the natural growth between them gives a sense of privacy. Stone pathways and green lawns lead from the lodge to the tent sites. The natural and rustic mix pleasantly with the established and well-tended.

Near the lodge is an attractive, heated pool with lounge chairs and stone paving partly shaded by tall trees. There is an outdoor bar and grill. Safari chairs and tables are sometimes set up near the pool for alfresco eating at lunch-very pleasant with the sounds of birds and the river below. Breakfast and dinner are served in the main dining room which is split into two levels with dark walls and matching furniture.

After the evening game drive, a fire is lit in the lounge where tea is served. In the evening a slide-show/lecture by the resident naturalist alternates nightly with Masai dancing.

Since it is outside of the Masai Mara national reserve, the Mara safari club is able to arrange for morning Kenya wildlife walks safaris, sundowner cocktails, or Mara bush banquets. On your game drives you are also likely to see stately Masai herders in their vivid red shuka.

Up to three game drives a day are included in the tariff. The Masai mara safari club has a fleet of 16 land cruisers modified for game viewing: seats covered in green canvas, field guide books, binoculars, a cooler filled with drinks, and well padded, open roof for game viewing.
Most guests fly in to the all weather strip close by.

Accommodations at the Masai Mara Safari Club Kenya
He tents are luxurious, fun and well- equipped. Four poster beds are bedecked with a striped canopy and mosquito net, and colorful carpets are on the floors. There are thick toweling bathrobes, and the shower and sink in the ensuite bathroom are both encased in wood. The electricity is on all night-great for readers. Best tent: # 12 has King-sized bed and sunken bathtub as well as a superb view of the river and the surrounding hills.

Other offerings at the Masai Mara Safari Club Kenya
Balloon safaris, bush banquets, sundowner cocktails, B.B.Q. dinners, visit to Masai village in Mara, souvenir shop, airstrip, fishing on Kenya lake victoria, “ off the beaten track safaris”, visit to “ wanga” rhino sanctuary with white rhino roaming freely on private grounds.
