How A Golden Treasure of Fruits Benefit Healthy Living

By Carole-anne Stanway

Golden colored fruits are a treasure trove of tasty benefits to healthy living. These fruits are packed full of vitamins and fiber, and notably, are low in fat and calories.

Eating papaya is like "having your cake and eating it too." Papaya is the tropical fruit which has a soft buttery like consistency when ripe. Eat healthy ripe papaya as you would melon, cutting lengthwise, scooping out the seeds, then eating with a spoon. Just half a papaya contains twice the RDI requirements of vitamin C we need and is very rich in beta carotene.

Nectarines are ready to eat when they have a deep yellow golden skin with lots of red on it. Nectarines should be slightly soft at the seam. This little gem, when ripe, should have a sweet aroma. These treasures can be eaten with the skin on and have a zingy, fresh taste. Nectarine's can be chopped and added to salad, served with meats, or eaten on their own. Nectarines healthy bonus is fiber and Vitamin C. A favorite fruit because of its portability, nectarines can be used as a healthy snack several times a day.

Cantaloupe is known for its refreshing flavor, and juicy texture. It is a melon that has an earthy aroma. Cantaloupe should be picked by heaviness for its size, and there should be no soft spots on it. Note: cantaloupes should be washed on the outside with a vegetable & fruit washer to fully cleanse the outside before cutting up, as they can carry bacteria on them. Once cleaned, scoop the seeds and middle out of the fruit. Healthy cantaloupes are wonderful with any meal and can be cut up into balls with a special cantaloupe scoop, or cut in halves and sliced into neat pieces, or peel the outside and just chop into smaller squares. Cantaloupe can be pureed and made into a summer drink by adding soda water topped with mint. Cantaloupe has many healthy benefits; vitamin A, vitamin C and potassium, plus fiber content is high.

Oranges are a favorite for almost everyone. This little treasure comes in many varieties, mandarin, Chinese, and of course, naval oranges, full of intense citrus tasty flavor. There is nothing more refreshing and healthy than eating an orange, or having a fresh glass of orange juice in the morning, which is like a little bit of "heaven".

Orange juice is used in many alcoholic drinks, such as vodka and orange, champagne and orange juice, often for brunch. Use oranges for healthy recipes; the rind puts zest in flavoring muffins, loaves, cookies, blender beverages and a host of main dish baking, such as chicken recipes, and salads.

Our treasure box is now full of golden fruits; why not use these little treasures to tantalize your taste buds, and reap the healthy benefits as well? Papayas, nectarines, cantaloupe and oranges are our natural treasures that give us a wealth of vitamins, fiber, and refreshing flavors for benefits of healthy living.

The One Benefit Of A Long Distance Relationship

By Jeff Lim

Did I mention that there is one benefit to having a long distance relationship? It puts money into the pockets of big airline corporations such as Virgin Atlantic, gas stations like Chevron and big phone companies like Verizon. They thank you very much for your business. Unfortunately for couples, there are no benefits for being in a long distance relationship. There is as enormous complexity of factors involved that make it difficult.

Let me tell you about the story of John and Jane. John lives in Los Angeles and Jane lives in New York. They both met at a party when Jane was in town on a business trip. The first problem that the two have is which one is the person that is going to be moving? Is either person willing to sacrifice their job or career for perhaps a lower pay or standard of living? What about leaving friends and family behind? If Jane is not moving to LA and John is not moving to New York, then why are they talking at all?

The second problem is that long distance relationships give a false sense of hope to one another. It may appear to raise each other's interest level, but in reality, it doesn't. It is the anticipation of meeting again that causes the interest to rise, creating a false sense of love. Any time your partner calls, you jump at the chance to talk. You never put her on hold or tell her that you're too busy with something else right now. Everything in your life gets put on hold to give her all of your attention.

The third problem that you have is that you can't bond if you're not around. There is a saying that "actions speak louder than words." You develop trust and comfort with that person when you are spending time together doing things. It allows you to see their personality, how the person reacts and how the person treats you. You can only judge a person's interest through their actions and body language which you obviously can't see in a LDR. Romance and love is by and large non-verbal, from the way you look at each other to the simple hugs given at the right moment when you need them. So what is the point of seeing each other every 3 or 6 months?

Problem number four is trying to make up for the distance by talking on the phone way too much. How does talking four or five times on a daily basis allow a relationship to build? Would you believe someone that is thousands of miles away who kept saying "I love you"! It's all talk and a phone call is definitely a poor substitute for a hug.

How about the 50 emails you send her everyday or the hours you spend instant messaging? What good does that do to building the relationship? But at the end, what do you really find out about that person? Did you go to their house? Did you see how she treats their parents or siblings? Maybe you did go to their place for a weekend. But yeah, you could have gone on a good day where she didn't treat her parents the way she usually does. Since you never see each other in normal day to day life, you lack the true knowledge of the other person and that is where the big problem lies.

The fifth problem is that it is a waste of money. Depending on where you are flying to and from, you can be spending thousands of dollars per year to see each other (and the false hope also).
You may be going over your minutes and end up racking up $400 dollars per month phone bills.
What about buying phone cards for international calls on a monthly basis? You may end up spending hundreds of dollars per year purchasing them. All this wasted money can be spent on building a relationship with someone who is close by.

Finally, It is a waste of time waiting for someone that is thousands of miles away. The fact is that no relationship, near of far, is 100% guaranteed. But the mere attempt at a long distance relationship increases the odds close to 100% that it is NOT going to work.

So what makes you think that your long distance love is going to be a hermit once he/she has committed to you? Most likely they won't be. They still have to go to work, go shopping, stop by the bank and go to the gym. Thus, they will be meeting others too, increasing the likelihood that they will meet someone that is better than you. If you are not there, then they have to fill that void with someone else. It's just the basic human need to be with others.

For John and Jane, their expectations of each other are skyrocketing even though they haven't seen each other in months. However, when they do get together as an exclusive couple, they would just end up at the start because they are really strangers to each other. The phone company AT&T almost had it right. Reach out but this time, don't touch someone.

How To Benefit Playing Company Politics

By Gloria Hansen

At one time or another, we have been warned to stay out of office politics-it can be the ruin of a promising career! It is an old warning with a lot of tradition to support it.

Company politics has seen its evil days, but the day when close-knit groups resented each other in general and all ambitious newcomers in particular is drawing to a close. Most people are recognizing that such intramural skirmishing for prestige and influence did the groups no good while greatly impairing the productivity of the company.

"Company" in this context is a generic term that applies to any working situation. It does not matter whether it is private industry, government agency, educational institution or some other kind of organized work situation.

When people get along together, production rises; when they do not, it falls. Politics-good or bad-is inescapable. If people are not talking about their work at the drinking fountain, during a coffee break, or at lunch, they just do not care, and that is bad.

Company politics is here to stay. To close your ears to it is not to remove yourself from politics but from the company. How else are you going to know what is going on? And if you do not know what is going on in the company, how are you to know where you are going?

If you follow three simple rules, playing good company politics will be easy, informative and rewarding.

(1). Say something interesting or constructive about your work.
(2). Say something good about your boss, supervisor, or company policy-with sincerity.

If you cannot do those three things after a month or two on the job, if your work is so dull and the company so uninteresting, you are in the wrong job. Start looking for a different one now!

Private life and work are both parts of you as a whole human being. They cannot be completely separate incarnations. You are probably spending your most productive hours in each day at work-five days a week! Friendships do count in the business world.

Bad politics is based on greed, selfishness, power-seeking, and often prejudice. More often than not, the leaders are insisting that some outside influence is the cause of all their problems. They are unwilling to admit that their own actions might be at fault.

I once worked in an office where the goal seemed to be finding something nasty to say about the boss. It was almost a "can you top this" kind of daily conversational game.

The two most vocal individuals had worked for the longest time in the department. They must have been getting some kind of emotional payback from their actions in order to justify working for such an individual. Possibly: "You have the title but I am better than you in every way!"

Actually company politics is not the name for it, for the company will suffer irreparable damage in the long run. It is personal or factional, or clique politics, played for the advancement of the few, and let the company go hang, as it frequently does. Yet it cannot be ignored.

If bad office politics is to be counteracted intelligently, it must be recognized for what it is, from the lowest man subjected to its pressures to the president of the firm. If one is in no position to combat it, then one must know what it is all about for his own protection.

Personal success is not to be found where partisanship and bias have more influence than merit. Always remember that recognizing the talents and achievements of your staff and co-workers is a valuable asset. If you fail to give credit where and when it is deserved, there should be no complaints when the same thing is done to you.

Hard work and attention to detail does not automatically bring a promotion. Your skill working with others is an essential ingredient. It is almost tragic to overlook the constructive side of office politics. If you do not know what is going on around you, no one is going to know you are around.

HGH Human Growth Hormone - Danger and Benefits

By George Josserme

It may be superfluous to elaborate on youthful levels of a major hormone such as hGH to provide realistic benefits. It has been covered very well. In addition, we may observe a teenager or a twenty-something years old person to see for ourselves. A cocktail with youthful levels of hormones ~such as hGH and DHEA~ are intimately connected to health. However, scientists tell us that something grows proportional to our negligence and lack of knowledge: human growth hormone danger.

It may also be superfluous to point out that hGH human growth hormone danger is realistic if carelessness and ignorance ~individually or combined~ are present during supplementation.
Both may push past a safe limit imposed by nature. However, I believe that that there is a point, and it has not been made clear. I will give you a comparative example to represent that point.
If a car has transmission problems, break pads and tires are worn out, the A/C does not work as intended by the manufacturer, some light bulbs are burnt out, the electric system has a short-circuit, the alternator is not charging the battery, and the radiator is leaking so the engine is over-heating, we could change the oil; but the otherwise critical Engine Oil will not provide much benefit because that car is in desperate need of major repairs or replacement of parts needed much more urgently before an oil change provides benefits.

The same conditions occur with your body or mine.

Should your body or mine be desperately craving for nutrients from a good diet or from a formula which includes much more than Vitamins & Minerals, it does not receive quality sleep for long enough, it does not get enough water to help eliminate unwanted matter, it is exposed to a hectic life style, it is subjected to aggravations and / or preoccupations on a periodic basis, it breathes indoor air which is not renovated often enough, its muscles and respiratory system are seldom exercised correctly and for long enough, its intestines lack the much needed Friendly Bacteria, fiber and they are over loaded with matter not often evacuated, it receives prescribed or over-the-counter drugs on a regular and long-term basis, it is affected by health conditions or illnesses as a result of a neglected and weak Immune System, it is exposed to too much smoking and / or alcohol, it receives a diet deficient in nutrients.

Would you say that a body with some of the above conditions may be exposed to hGH human growth hormone danger and no benefits? Of course it may. Just like the oil change in the imaginary car above, that body is in desperate need for a higher state of health. What that means is that either benefits or danger of hGH human growth hormone are ~to a meaningful extent~ dependant on favorable health conditions to be present on a long-term basis for youthful levels to be beneficial or not.

It all leads to deduce that supplementing with hGH may not be dangerous in itself. It may turn dangerous because our body does not meet favorable conditions needed. Well before we consider supplementing with a major hormone, we must first gain knowledge in "preparing our body" to be receptive to youthful levels. Should we be wise enough, it is then likely that we avoid hGH human growth hormone danger; and gain benefits.

Our body can be rewarded from these marvels of nature, but to stay away from hGH human growth hormone danger we must be clever enough to remember that "we should first give nature what nature wants"; and what nature wants is a body receiving what nature intended it to receive. Likewise, we must ~to the extent possible~ stay away from conditions that will lessen its qualities, make it sick, and shorten its life.

He also is the author of Your Health – Your Choice. An e-book where he makes his readers aware that there is human growth hormone danger, but it depends which side of the fence the reader positions himself on. The side of those who acquire knowledge, or the side of those ignorant on what nature inescapably mandates.

Applying for Disability Benefits? Let the Battle Begin!

By Carla C. Ballatan

Ever since our childish squabbles with bullies in our schools, we have known that it is quite difficult to launch a battle with someone bigger than we are. However, if we look back in the pages of history, even in mythological stories and fairy tales, we can learn a thing or two about fighting epic battles.

In these stories, the anti-hero is usually portrayed as bigger and much better equipped. Still, the heroes, who are oftentimes diminutive and has no capacity to obtain good resources, won the battles. What made them win? Because of their hearts and souls did not accept failure or losing. They faced their enemies and predicaments with strength of determination. In the end, they prevailed.

In cases of our real life struggles, perhaps we can learn a thing or two about the stories we have enjoyed in youth.

One of the biggest life challenges being faced by most people in America is the battle to claim benefits under the Social Security Disability program. The Social Security Administration (SSA) is the venue of daily epic battles occurring between claimants and the administration itself.
What is the prize awaiting? The Disability benefits, of course.

The usual scenario of the battle is when you acquire a mental or physical impairment, diagnosed by the doctors and becomes the cause for your incapacity to work. Thus, you submit an application to the SSA for disability benefits. The fact is that, you know you have the right to do so since you had never failed to pay your dues to the government.

You might have thought that it would not take that long and before you know it, and you will begin to avail of the benefits to tide you over, since you do, are not receiving income anymore. However, the time comes when you feel your resources beginning to drain down.

Later on, as more months pass by without any advice from the SSA, you just kept your hopes up and reaffirmed your faith that SSA is your ally.

When you finally receive a notice from the SSA however, the reality slaps you in the face. Your claim is denied, with enough official terminologies conclusively saying that you are not really disabled and that you are not qualified to receive benefits.

Now, you are finally realizing that it is not a question of alliances. It is a battle between you, a humble citizen among millions and the federal government, the seemingly invincible force working against your favor.

However, it is important to note down the policies of SSA on appeal rights and disregard the "final and decisive" tone of the denial. If we are to recall most of the past epic battles, remember that one of the factors why you have enjoyed it is because the ones you thought were weak are the ones who prevail over the unconquerable.

Thus, in your own epic battle with SSA and the federal government for your right to claim disability benefits: unwavering perseverance.

Be aware that around 75% of those who applied for disability benefits will be initially denied. However, if you decide to become a part of half of this percentage, which give up and do not appeal, then you might become a miserable loser. If you decide to be an applicant to persevere and push on with their claim even up to an Administrative Law judge hearing , then the odds is that you will obtain what is rightfully due you by the government.

Your case will go down into history along with the other triumphant victories.
Our Los Angeles Social Security Attorneys are competent in handling/advocating claims for social security disability benefits.

The Benefits of Full Spectrum Lighting - An Overview

By Chuck Lunsford

Many years ago, my wife and I were health care professionals working primarily with what was then termed hyperactivity (or childhood hyperactivity). The terminology has changed over the years and the latest description of this disorder (in both adults and children) is ADD/ADHD or attention deficit disorder or attention deficit hyperactive disorder. Like many professionals, we developed an interest in this disorder because we had children suffering from it (and we later found out that we, too, were ADD/ADHD adults!).

During our research and education regarding this disorder we also discovered that some researchers were also investigating a link between ADD/ADHD and SAD or seasonal affective disorder. SAD is unfortunately one of those conditions that is often dumped into a bag of “pseudo-disorders” including chronic fatigue syndrome and even PMS at one time.

During the winter months, particularly in the northern climes, sunlight is often at a premium and this lack of enough natural sunlight is the culprit that causes SAD and what some call the “winter blues”. I, personally, see no real differentiation between the two except perhaps in the degree to which sunlight deprivation affects an individual. Fortunately, the NIH (National Institute of Health) formally recognized SAD as a bona-fide disorder in 1982.

The 40 million or so individuals who suffer from the effects of sunlight deprivation have a biochemical deficiency in the production of a neurotransmitter called serotonin that is, in part, produced by natural sunlight. SAD is not to be taken lightly because it has a pervasive affect on nearly all areas of a person’s ability to function on the job, in a relationship or just being “with” themselves. The most pronounced symptoms are generalized and often severe feelings of sadness and even depression. Without any logical basis for these feelings, these individuals often become anxious (experience anxiety) and wonder if they are going crazy. Those living or working with a SAD individual will often notice irritability, excessive eating and food cravings and a general loss of interest in social involvement. Oh yes, oversleeping or the desire to “hibernate” is also a common characteristic.

Fortunately there is a relatively simple and inexpensive way to compensate and reverse the symptom complex of SAD. The answer is exposure to what is called full spectrum lighting. Full spectrum lighting has been used for many years as a growth enhancer for indoor plants being grown in parts of the world where there is a lack of sufficient sunshine all year.

The full spectrum light fixture(s) in essence, trick our light receptors and then our brain into experiencing the light as genuine sunlight. Sufficient exposure to full spectrum light has been scientifically demonstrated to decrease and in some cases eliminate the aforementioned SAD symptoms.

While this is a great boon to those actually suffering from SAD, what about the general population? While the non-SAD population may not suffer the intensity of symptoms experienced by those with SAD, they, too, need adequate, year-round sunlight to maintain optimum health and to avoid some of the lesser manifestations of the SAD syndrome. Studies have shown that proper levels of sunlight (real or simulated) increases the ability of the immune system to fight off disease, increases measured intelligence and even stimulates our energy levels to a higher level.

Since these facts have been published with governmental endorsement, why does the problem persist in many environments? In the workplace, there remain skeptics. These skeptics are more interested in maintaining their opinions and beliefs than they are in seriously considering the facts: “I’ve got my mind made up – don’t confuse me with the facts”. So, the place that most of us spend the majority of our waking hours, the workplace, continues to use antiquated (yet inexpensive) fluorescent lighting as its primary method of illuminating the factory or the office.
The consequent stress, fatigue and reduced morale and work productivity is written off as the worker’s inborn tendency to get away with less than they are capable of.

Upgrading to full spectrum fluorescent lighting is fairly expensive although the cost per unit has been coming down over the past few years. The interesting thing is that companies that have upgraded to full spectrum lighting have in many cases reported very positive results including decreased absenteeism, higher levels of productivity and better work performance.

If you are working in an office and have supplemental lighting in the form of a desk lamp, you can take matters into your own hands and purchase full spectrum fluorescent bulbs yourself that have adapters that will fit into your desk lamp. Your investment is in your own health and well being and if the company also benefits, so much the better.

At home, get what is called a “light box” or any device that provides full spectrum light. Expose yourself to the light on dismal winter mornings for the amount of time suggested by the manufacturer. Use the aforementioned fluorescent “bulbs” in place of the traditional incandescents in your lamps. You will notice the difference.

I’m not promoting any particular brand or specific product but I am “preaching” the benefits that both my wife and I have experienced by using full spectrum lighting.

What Benefits Can Be Obtained from Interior Design School?

By Darren Williger

The interior design industry is always changing. Few years back, you had to go to a proper design or art school to study interior design. These days, interested students can have interior design as major in almost any college or university.

Today it is compulsory for professional interior designers to have an industry license in order to practice their skill. Much like an architect, they must go through intensive study and testing before even being allowed to take any licensing testing. The NCIDQ (National Council for Interior Design Qualification), requires all testers to have a combination of:
six years of work experience,
two years of schooling plus four years of work experience,
Four years in a FIDER recognized university or college plus two years of work experience in order to qualify. This intensive method ensures that trade licensing helps to generate
responsible and educated designers.

Students interested in interior design study should go for a college or university that is FIDER recognized and works towards a bachelor's degree which is required for commercial career.
Even some of the high-end designers prefer to achieve a master’s degree or a doctorate in design.

There are few extra courses that ‘would-be designers’ should consider such as: AutoCAD by Autodesk is an excellent computer aided drafting course. Those with some experience and knowledge of this software program can command a higher starting rate than those who haven’t taken the time to learn anything about it.

Business classes along with variety of marketing courses are also a plus that many students ignore. Remember, interior design is 90% networking, marketing, selling, and knowing the right people; 7% paperwork and only 3% design.

Some professional designer’s even advocate taking acting classes that can help you learn how to make better sales pitches.

Art classes too can help you be better prepared when talking with clients. People are visual and you’ll have a better shot at convincing a new client of your ideas if you can sketch them. Also consider taking an art, furniture and antique history class. They all come in to play every day in the design industry.

Design school can be very intense. You will have to take traditional classes; a normal workload of reading, tests and other class work, as well as you will have to complete very large-scale design projects along the way.

One vital aspect where the design school can really help you is to find most successful and rewarding stream of interior designing matching your skills. They’re many different fields to enter in this profession. There are residential interior designers whose only purpose is to serve homeowners, and then there are commercial interior designers who work on offices, restaurants, banks, malls, hotels, and so on. And, all of these specialties need a project manager heading up the entire project, a draftsperson, and a product sales representative.

Some designers go for their own drapery workroom or fabric warehouse, a design firm, or decide to be a partner in a firm, a painter, wallpaper hanger, carpet layer or any of a hundred other design specialists. How you eventually use your designer’s education and skill is totally depending on you, your interest, and the level of your designing skills.

How Can A Massage Chair Benefit Me?

By Michael Russell

At fancy gadget stores, you’ll often find at least one massage chair waiting for you to test. Moms, kids, or just about anyone will take advantage of a free massage. For some, the new massage chairs even look like Darth Vader’s bathtub. But are they buying the chair? Why would anyone want to buy a massage chair when you can go to a masseuse and get a quality massage. There are some compelling reasons why one would get a massage chair.

Massage chairs allow you to relax in your own home without any distractions. The main advantage of this would be the privacy provided with a massage chair. Sometimes individuals do not feel comfortable going to a masseuse or do not want to take off clothes to a stranger. By having the chair in one’s home, a person anxious about public massages would be able to feel more relaxed and comfortable.

Massage chairs are pricey. They could cost anywhere from a few hundred dollars to even over ten thousand dollars. Ostensibly, the cost is steep. But the cost is a one-time cost. Think about the cost of a masseuse in a nice spa or massage organization. Each individual massage could run you around $100. If you were to have a massage 15 times a year, you’ll be spending $1,500 a year. A nice massage chair could pay for itself in a few years. As long as the model is a good quality chair, you can expect the chair to be available for many years.

You can also benefit by not worrying about making appointments to the masseuse. If all of the sudden you feel that your muscles are tightening or feel physically stressed, the massage chair is there for immediate use. The massage chair doesn’t make you wait. In fact, you’ll find that a lot of spas are booked on prime times. There could be some considerable work finding the right time to balance with your active lifestyle.

Not all masseuses offer clients more than one style, such as Swedish or Shiatsu. In a lot cases, the masseuse is a specialist in one or a very few styles. Today’s massage chairs provide more than one style. Since the massage chair rollers can mimic almost any hand pattern, it can give you more than one type of massage style. Importantly, this is all dependent of the type of chair.
But as more of these instruments become advanced, the chairs will offer limitless options.

Physical benefits of massage chairs can match massages from a real person. You can benefit from back and neck relief, muscle loosening, better blood flow, fewer muscle spasms, improved back posture and much more.

It also allows you to customize certain motions and patterns for a unique massage experience. You may not be able to do that with a massage therapist. Moreover, if you go to a spa, you may not get the same masseuse that provides the massage that you like. At least with a massage chair, you can count on getting the same type of massage that you enjoy.

Massage chairs are a great way for individuals to enjoy massage with privacy, customization and greater flexibility. The chairs will allow you to benefit in many ways including a better physical body and lifestyle.
