Article Marketing - Write for Quality or Quantity?

By Ben Ehinger

This is a question that is floating around many article marketing and internet marketing forums and it is very hard to find a clear answer. Should you be writing articles for quality or concentrating on quantity? Read on to find out if article marketing is better with quality articles or the quantity of articles.

Let us look at the quality of articles first. Writing for quality will allow you to create unique content that readers will want to finish reading and will be helped by your article. When you write for quality content you are looking to help your reader, but you have to be careful to leave them wanting more or you will lose out on what you are really after, which is traffic to your website.

So, now that we have mentioned a little about traffic let us move on to writing a quantity of articles. When you write articles for quantity you are looking to drive traffic to your website. You are trying to drive as much traffic as possible to your websites and you are not as concerned with how good the articles are. This is a type of writing that allows you to pump out articles like a machine. They are usually very much structured around keywords and you are more concerned about your ranking on search engines than how good your writing is.

Which one is better, Quality or Quantity? The best answer to this question is that you should combine the two methods. Never write specifically for quantity because your readers will not want to read your articles, therefore, they probably will not finish them and click to your website. You do not want to get too caught up with the quality though because you don't want to spend hours upon hours on each article.

Make sure you write for your readers and give them something that they want. Answer a burning question, give them a handful of good tips, or define something that needs to be defined. If you don't give your readers anything they won't read the entire article and won't click through to your site. You also have to make sure you leave them wanting more so that they will click through to your website.

Writing for quality is a good way to create good articles, but you need to also write for quantity because it is a numbers game and the more quality articles you have out there the better chances you will have to create a ton of traffic. So combine quality and quantity writing in your article marketing and you will see better success than just writing a few articles that are very good or putting out a ton of junk articles.

How to Write Description Essays

By Sarah Brodie

This is because descriptive essays are lucid explanations and descriptions. They use sensory details to appeal to readers. They are usually the personal experience of an individual and a means of expressing the individual's attitude and temperament. Consequently essays in this genre are normally subjective. However they could also be objective. Descriptive essays can be about a person, a place, an experience, an object and so on.

The first thing to do before you actually get down to writing a descriptive paper is to try and figure out your reason for the essay. Once you do this you can fashion your paper in such a way as to optimize the effectiveness of your paper. In other words what is the dominant impression that you wish to create in your essay. From the dominant impression will evolve your thesis statement.

The body of your essay should focus on the particular qualities of the object you wish to focus on. In order to accentuate these qualities in a manner that will appeal to your readers you should describe the sights, sounds, smells and everything else that involve the senses and appeal to the readers' emotions.

Let us suppose that you have decided to write a descriptive essay about your grandmother. And suppose you want to describe her frail appearance and the way in which she relates with all her grandchildren. The way you should go about it is by not focusing on generic aspects of frailty and relationships. In a descriptive treatise you will picture for the reader as graphically as possible the way the old woman ambles. You should make it possible for the readers to picture a wiry old woman spending time with all her grandchildren. Your readers should be able to visualize the grey haired lady making an effort to shower her grandchildren with love.

"Show, don't tell". That should be your guiding tenet while writing a descriptive paper. So if you are writing about your grandmother, describe the texture of her wrinkled skin, the shimmer of her silver hair, her feeble voice, her stooping figure. Use sounds, smells and textures and so on that are easy to picture and go directly to the heart. That way your writing appeals to the emotions of your readers and has them deeply involved.

Description essays follow the same general structure as do other essays. So when writing a descriptive essay, try to stick to this structure. In the introduction tell the reader what the focus of your essay is going to be and what aspects of the object you will be focusing on. In the body of the paper describe places, people and events in vivid manner. Delve into the subject in as much detail as possible. Describe the whole thing as you have seen it. Use words that appeal to the senses. And in the conclusion restate the essence of your thesis and summarize your thoughts.
Writing a descriptive essay is not always easy. Hence you may be required to draft and redraft till it shapes out the way you want it to.

So You Want To Write A Book

By Charles Williams

They say that everyone has a book in them. They also say that most people die with that book still in them. I decided not to let that happen to me. I didn't make that decision until after I retired in 2001 at age sixty-two. So, you see, it's never too late. It was 2006 and many false starts later before I published my first novel. The road to publishing that book was long and contained many pitfalls along the way. It was also a great learning process.

What I'm hoping to accomplish with this article and those that follow, is to get you motivated to write that book you have in your head. I'm going to do this by giving you the benefit of my experience so you can avoid some of the mistakes that I made creating my book. What worked for me may just work for you and if it saves you steps along the way so much the better.

I'm not going to tell you what to write because you already have some ideas about that or you would not be reading this article. I will only make one suggestion. When you are just starting out as a new writer it is best to write about what you know. That may be a memoir, a how to book in your area of expertise or a fiction novel based on some life experience you have had. Okay you have an idea for a book, what next?

Well first let's get your mind-set in the right place. It helps if you think of your writing as a pleasurable pastime and something you always wanted to do rather than a get rich quick scheme. To help with that here are some statistics, about 500 books per day are published in this country, of those only about 7% make money. Last year, in the United States, only one person in four even read a book. That does not mean that you can't write a best seller, just don't dwell on it. We will get into marketing and publicity later in this series.

Only you know what your abilities are and only you will know if you need help and how much. Personally, I had years of management experience and considered myself a competent business writer. However, creative writing is a little different, I discovered this the hard way and it cost me some time. After messing around with a couple of projects I realized that I did not know the first thing about writing a short story, let alone a book. There were things like, outline, plot, structure, characterization, dialogue and format that I had never even considered.

I found help at my local community college. Almost every city has a university or a community college and they all offer a variety of writing courses. Get a catalog and see what your local college or university offers. Audit a couple of classes to see if they are teaching what you need.
The first class I took was titled "If you can talk you can write". It was a great class and I went on to complete that instructors four course writing series.

The next article will cover good writing habits and what to do when, you think, you have a finished manuscript.
