Time And Money Invested In Lawn Care

By Andrew Caxton

Are you one of the people that spend a lot of money on lawn care to the point where you are putting more into maintaining your lawn over your home? This may be because you really want that amazing green lawn that looks better than anyone else in your area. You may just have the need to keep your lawn at the right length. No matter what your reason for doing this amount of work on your lawn is, the fact is, when you step back to look at it, you enjoy the results that it provides to you.

Why Do It?
There are many things that go into getting that just right lawn, though, including keep it fertilized and handling things like thatching in the spring months. You may need to aerate the lawn this year. You may need to spend some time in the fall working on seeding it, too. The fact is that people all have their different methods to maintaining their lawn to this level, some of who have top secret methods they use. This is great that so many methods are out there and the fact that people want to see a great looking lawn. But, if you just do not have the added expenses or time to invest in this type of lawn care, you may not want to invest in it.

You may be the type of person that gets their lawn to look good to a point and then works on the next big home improvement project. Some fast tips to remember when caring for your lawn is to keep the grass high enough and to not overwater.

Consider Professional Lawn Care
If you do not have the time to invest in your lawn, then you may want to consider a professional lawn care service. This is more than just paying someone else to do the work. Rather, you should look toward a company that can invest in providing you with a highly skilled manner of caring for your lawn.

Fast Tips
There are some things you can do quickly to see great results in your lawn. For example, avoid cutting the grass too short. This gives the grass a longer time to grown and become stronger. You should not cut off more than one third of the blade of grass at one time. This means cutting more often, but at a longer length.

You also should make sure that you are watering to the right level. In some areas you do need more water due to a lack of rain. Yet, overwatering your lawn is not a good thing. If roots dry out, they may not be able to repair the damage and may eventually cause long term damage.

Caring For An Oily Skin

By Anita R Choudhary

Skin care is essential to look nice and feel healthy. People have different types of skin, while some require intense moisturizing even in summers due to severe dry skin, other s are sick of the oil that surfaces on their face. People who have oily skin are more pone to acne while oily skin also needs more cleaning than any other type of skin. But there is one advantage of having oily skin- it does not shows signs of aging for a longer time due to intense moisturizing the oil glands provide.

Looking after oily skin is important to keep your skin looking radiant and beautiful. Acne can rear its ugly head if you do not take proper care. Due to over productive oil glands, removing excess oil becomes important otherwise, the grime collects on the face blocking the pores and leading to microbial growth that leads to acne.

Clean it with plenty of warm water to remove extra oil and clean your face with a gentle soap which removes the grime and dust collected on the surface of the skin. Rinse your face and apply an astringent or toner with upward and outward strokes. It is better to use herbal and gentle skin products that do not rob your skin of the essential moisturizer nor disturbs the pH balance of the skin. Harsh chemicals irritate the skin and can sometimes lead to Reactive Seborrhea, when the oil glands below the skin surface start over producing oil, to counter the loss of natural skin moisture. Thus, the skin starts dehydrating making the topmost layer to shrink and shrivel up, restricting the flow of oil and oil starts clogging the pores leading to acne growth.

It is best to use a cleanser which has a base of salicylic acid for cases when Seborrhea strikes and avoid using intense moisturizing creams. In case, you have a tendency to have scaly oily skin, you can use a cleaning exfoliate on a regular basis with a light moisturizing cream after that. Clay masks are good alternatives when you need to remove excess oil from your face. Sensitive skins need light colored clay masks. Wash your face with warm water to remove the mask and apply a non greasy moisturizer. Although oily skin can be irritating especially in hot weather, it does not show signs of aging for a longer time, so keep it clean to look radiant and attractive.

Eating Organic - If You Don't Care At Least Give It To Your Babies!

By Sarah H

It is not a dirty word as some people tend to think like they do with vegetarianism. It's a healthy choice and one that must be made consciously. The benefits of eating organically grown food, be it vegetables, fruits or meat are too numerous to mention. They range from less doctor visits to having beautiful skin and a healthier sex life.

What's the connection I hear you ask? It's simple, would you put dirty petrol into your gas tank and expect your car to work perfectly. It's the age old principle of the computer, GIGO ( garbage in, garbage out ). The same is true of our bodies. Sure the produce does not look as colorful and huge and shiny as chemically grown food but it is tastier and better for you, what more can one ask for.

Well, at least do it for the little ones. There are organic baby food available in most supermarkets now and health food shops. These fruits are better for your babies overall development both physically and mentally. From organically grown fruits to vegetables like carrots, squash and broccoli. You will even find organic meat in abundance in a lot of places.

The bottom line seems to be that more and more people are turning to organic food as their choice of diet and this is good news for our health care system. Maybe future generations will put less burden on the system and Michael Moore will have to remake his "Sicko" documentary.
Buy why stop at just ourselves and our babies, we must not forget our pets. In almost every pet shop and grocery which value their reputation you will find organic dog and cat food. Hey come on they deserve to be healthy too no?

Sarah Harrigan has been enjoying an organic lifestyle 8 years now. You can read more of Sarah's rantings at http://www.whyeatorganic.net/ and discover some of her favorite organic recipes like cucumber dill tea sandwiches or maybe organic beef stew anyone?

Bladder Cancer - Symptoms, Diagnosis, Treatment and Care

By Steve Batchelor

Over 10,000 people are diagnosed with bladder cancer in the UK each year and over 50,000 annually in the US. It accounts for 90% of cancers of the urinary tract (renal pelvis, ureters, bladder and urethra) and occurs mostly in those over 50 and about twice as many men as women gets this disease. Although bladder cancer cannot be prevented, tobacco use and working with certain chemicals are associated with a higher risk of developing the disease.
Drinking plenty of fluids daily can help to lower the risk. The symptoms of bladder cancer include pain and frequency of urination and blood in the urine.

Diagnosis of bladder cancer is by urological testing and image testing, potential risk factors can be determined by the patient's full medical history and things like smoking and exposure to dyes are taken into consideration. The NMP22®BladderChek® is a noninvasive urine test which detects elevated levels of nuclear matrix protein (NMP) caused by bladder cancer, the results of this test when used with cystoscopy have shown to be more effective than other diagnostic tests.

Various imaging tests can also be performed, these involve a dye being administered through a vein then x-rays are taken as the dye moves through the urinary tract. This provides information about the function of the bladder, ureters and kidneys. Other imaging tests include a CT scan, MRI scan, bone scan and ultrasound. If bladder cancer is suspected a cystoscopy and biopsy are performed. With a cystoscopy a thin telescope-like tube with a tiny camera attached is inserted into the bladder through the urethra to detect abnormalities. In biopsy, tissue samples are taken and examined for cancer cells.

Once is has been determined that a tumor exists, the next step is to clarify the tumor's status. The size of the tumor, where it lies, whether it has extended into surrounding tissue and whether it has spread to the lymph nodes or other sites in the body are all questions that need to be answered. The tumor's stage or depth of penetration is confined to one of two categories; (1) superficial, surface tumors which affect only the bladder lining or (2) invasive, deep spreading tumors which grow into the deeper layers of the bladder tissue, and may involve surrounding muscle, fat and nearby organs.

Treatment of bladder cancer depends on the stage of the disease, type of cancer and the patient's age and general health. Options include surgery, chemotherapy, radiation and immunotherapy. Surgery can include removing the bladder, prostate and lymph nodes which results in the patient requiring an external urinary appliance, but if caught in the early stages a tumor can be removed using instruments inserted through the urethra.

Chemotherapy is systemic treatment that uses drugs to destroy the cancer cells which are administered orally or intravenously. In patients with the early stages of bladder cancer drugs may be infused into the bladder through the urethra. Some side effects of chemotherapy can be severe and include headache, abdominal pain, blurred vision, fatigue, excessive bleeding, infection and weakness.

Radiation uses high-energy rays to destroy cancer cells. External beam radiation is emitted from a machine outside the body and internal radiation is emitted from pellets implanted into the tumor. Either type may be used after surgery to destroy remaining cancer cells. Side effects can include inflammation of the rectum, skin irritation, fibrosis and impotence.

Immunotherapy may be used in cases of superficial bladder cancer. The treatment enhances the immune system's ability to fight disease. A vaccine is infused through the urethra to the bladder once a week for 6 weeks to stimulate the immune system and destroy cancer cells. Side effects can be inflammation of the bladder, inflammation of the prostate and flu-like symptoms. Bladder cancer has a high rate of recurrence. Urine cytology and cystoscopy are performed every 3 months for 2 years, every 6 months for the next 2 years and then yearly.

Extraordinary Care - Ethics in Nursing

By Karen Rodgers

One of the first things a new nursing student learns, long before they start sticking needles in people, is a nursing code of ethics. Every profession has an ethic, a common morality or overriding philosophy evolving around the profession itself and the acts of the people who are involved it. In the field of nursing where people put their lives in the hands of a total stranger, following a system of ethics is critically important. Nursing ethics takes the form of several categories:
  1. Competence - A nurse is responsible at all times to see that they have the proper training and experience for every procedure that they do. When a nurse is issued a license to practice nursing after passing the state board of nursing exam, there is an understanding that the nurse is competent to perform all nursing tasks under the licensure. However, continuing education and experience are the responsibility of the nurse to ensure the proper technique and understanding is present.
  2. Compassion - The next set of ethics regards the treatment of patients. A nurse is supposed to be a compassionate caregiver who regards the safety and dignity of each individual with utmost diligence. That means each patient must be treated as a unique individual with a right to privacy and dignity. Each patient or their guardian must consent to nursing care and be treated out of the best experience of the nurse.
  3. Quality Care - a nurse is to ensure that they are in a position where they can provide consistent quality care to the patient while they are on shift. That means a nurse who hasn't gotten enough sleep, is overworked to the point of exhaustion, is distracted by professional or personal problems, or is using drugs or alcohol that could impede judgment is breaking the ethic of quality care and could be putting their license in jeopardy. Quality care also means using the required standards for care involving procedures, techniques and hospital policy.
  4. Collaboration - The health care system is a multi-connected organism where each person depends on the other to fulfill his or her obligations correctly. Communication and collaboration are essential elements in a nursing code of ethics. Nurses must collaborate honestly with doctors, technicians, specialists, social workers, administration, patients and family members of patients to create a holistic healing environment where all elements of patient care are foremost and efficient.
  5. Career Professionalism - A nurse does not just do things for patients or themselves. A nurse must be conscious that they work for and are part of a larger profession of people. Nurses are required to further the profession by their appearance, attitude and consistent representation of the profession as a whole. Nurses must continue as part of that profession to engage in dialogue and documentation that uplifts the nursing profession and provides a consistent body of wisdom and accountability to the career as a whole.
The nursing code of ethics passed by the American Nurses Association encompasses all these categories and provides nurses with guidelines and benchmarks to ensure they are meeting their obligation to the overall ethic of the health care system.

How Do You Show You Care?

By Lee Ann Bate

As the population of older Utahans expands, there is an increasing need for quality medical services along the Wasatch front. Rather than seeking treatment in a medical facility such as a nursing home, many older Utahans prefer to remain in their own homes when they require more medical assistance.

Thatcher Brook has recently obtained licensure to provide in-home healthcare and hospice services under Medicare certification to help fill this need. They are providing homecare and hospice services in Weber, Davis and Salt Lake counties.

David Preece, owner and operator, has been in the healthcare industry for seventeen years and has provided hospice services for the last five years in Weber and Davis counties. He has hired an experienced and knowledgeable staff to assist him in providing the best care for those who require medical assistance and would prefer to stay in their own homes.

He and his team are very focused on quality care. “I want to provide the care to others that I would want my own family to receive…I am there to serve the patient," said David Preece.

The medical director is Dr. Shaida Talebreza. Dr. Talebreza received her medical degree from the University of Utah, School of Medicine. She completed her residency in Family Medicine at the St. Marks Family Medicine Residency Program.

During her residency, Dr. Talebreza served as Chief Resident. “We are committed to providing great care and education to the communities along the Wasatch front," said David Preece. "Our commitment reaches beyond the standard."

They are committed to making sure all of their patients needs are met. They want them to know that they truly care for them and will do all they can to make their lives more enjoyable. "It is more than just physical care that people are in need of.

Sometimes it is education, other times it is the comfort of someone to talk to and confide in. "We are focused on meeting the needs of each person placed in our care, no matter the need," said Preece. "This is how We define caring".

Does God Care For The Under Dogs As Well As The Celebrity Heavyweight? Learn More

By Simeon Johnson

Too often society overlooks the hotel maid, bus driver or the building superintendent. But the author points out that without these essential people who keep society functioning, our lives would come to a grinding halt.

By telling the story of "the average Joe" the reader is forced to acknowledge the importance of their jobs. The reader is implored to ask themselves about their treatment of these people, the bellhop; the waiter or the coat check person. Are we snide, entitled and obnoxious? Or are we grateful and appreciative of the jobs they do for us? And while you're at it, ask yourself, how do you show appreciation for such people? Do you tip them properly or even better thank them for their service?

This book gives us all something to think about regarding the position we play in society. It also serves as recognition of sorts for all men and women who go about their daily lives and go to their jobs that often provide little or no recognition, appreciation and often times fairly low compensation.

You're a Worthwhile Person is the equivalent of "This Bud's For You" the beer commercial, instead Johnson intimates "This Book is For You." Hail to the cooks, cab drivers, subway operators, electricians and plumbers and countless other thankless jobs ordinary people do to provide the grease that keeps the wheels of society going.

In one chapter, for instance, Johnson lauds a New York City Transit bus driver, Gloria Valez. Johnson describes how Valez cares for the safety of each passenger. She is patient with the elderly, tolerant of the young and the restless and polite to lonely people who talk to her despite a posted sign that advises against it. Valez is not just working for a paycheck or any sort of recognition, and outside of this book she will probably receive none, even from her employer.
But, while standing at the bus stop on a miserably cold day you sure are glad to have her pull up and open the door of the warm bus and drive you to your destination.

Other examples, when the air conditioning unit in your home goes out on a 90 plus day, you sure are glad to see the repair person come in to solve the problem and get you cool once again. And while you're in the hospital suffering from an illness or recovering from major surgery, you're surely too glad to see the nursing assistant who sticks around to comfort you after the much lauded nurses and doctors have gone home.

Yes, there are many ordinary people who do their jobs diligently while they are overlooked by the people they serve. Read this important work and when you're done you are sure to have a new found respect for the everyday people who do so many important jobs--including yourself.

Health Care Insurance - Could I Be Paying Too Much?

By Chimezirim Chinecherem Odimba

Could I be paying too much in health care insurance? If you're not quite sure, then it's quite likely you are. I'll take you through a few things that will ensure you do not pay a cent more on health care insurance than you really have to.

One way many people pay too much is by getting more coverage than they really need. If, for example, you are a young healthy person who rarely ever needs to see a doctor, you don't need the same health care plan as an older person who has a history of certain ailments.

For the young, healthy and rarely sick person, a catastrophic health insurance plan will be quite adequate coverage. By doing this such a person will not be paying for coverage that they do not need. This means lower health insurance premiums. Aren't they exposing themselves to danger? No way! They are covered if they fall ill suddenly or sustain injuries.

Another way you can ensure you do not pay more than you should for health care insurance is to take some time to read through your existing policies. It's not beneficial for you to duplicate coverages. It only increases your health care insurance premiums. Is that what you really want?
If your answer is "NO!" then take some time out to read through your policies again. Drop every duplicate coverage. And, this does not apply only to health care insurance. It applies to all other policies.

Finally, different insurers have different rates for the exact same policy. If you've not taken some time out to do extensive comparison then you might be using an insurer that has higher health care insurance rates.

You can easily get cheaper health care insurance rates now by visiting not less than three quotes sites. Using at least three quotes sites raise the chances that you would get bigger savings. The simple logic in this is that you will obtain many more quotes from a wider range of insurers. This provides you a broader basis for doing more thorough comparisons thus increasing your chances of paying the lowest health care insurance rates for your profile and preferred plan.

Tips for Starting a Day Care

By Fiona Lohrenz
You've always dreamed about starting your own day care business. The perfect situation which allows you to be with your kids whilst bringing in much needed money and being your own boss. But due to fear of the unknown you haven't done so. You're afraid to take that risk.

Here's my tip, remove the fear. Sample the environment first, familiarise yourself with the business to see if it is something you would truly enjoy. This is the ultimate form of research, total immersion. Try to get a job or even get volunteer work at a day care (ideally one that allows staff to bring their kids or arrange a temporary child care arrangement whilst you research your potential business). Do whatever it takes to get the time off, use your vacation days, arrange a leave of absence.

There is nothing like on the ground experience to figure out your suitability for a particular profession. Hands on,practical experience will introduce you to the nitty gritty of daily operations. You can learn invaluable lessons and glean tips and hints that could otherwise cause you to fall at the first hurdle. Observation and practical application is great for figuring out what works and what doesn't.

Your research period should be your sponge phase. Use it to soak up every atom of information possible. Take a copy book with you and jot down notes on your breaks, while it's still fresh in your head. Do the same thing when you get home in the evening before you forget those little nuggets. Oogle all paperwork, policies and procedures every chance you get. There'll be a lot so just try to remember key points for now. You can flesh that stuff out later. Just get an overview of how it all fits together.

Don't be afraid to ask questions, especially of the owner or more senior, experienced staff. Observe how they work, how they interact with children, parents and other staff. Try to identify different roles e.g. does each room have a keyworker and assistants? How does that work and could it be more effective? You will notice weaknesses too but use those to your advantage learning what not to do. Be aware of health and safety routines and issues. Hone in on any behavioural problems and notice what is the procedure for dealing with same.

Every successful business has effective systems, policies and procedures in place enabling it to run smoothly. The same applies to day care, once you remove the fear of the unknown by immersing yourself in the daily operations of a day care all the pieces will come together in your head enabling you to get beyond the fear to a more confident and constructive place. Most importantly though, it will give you a very good idea if child care is a business in which you could thrive. Passion and interest are paramount...these are what carry you through the tough times to success.

Now, what have you got to lose? Get researching. Potentially, you are gaining the perfect business for you and your family.

Fiona Lohrenz has been running her own day care for the past 10 years and is the founder of a childcare website that offers articles and resources for child care providers and parents. She has also produced 'Start a ChildCare Business' DVD. Fiona can be reached at her website here:http://www.childcareonly.com
