Disney's Magic Kingdom Orlando Florida

By Steve Sewell

No matter how old you are, this place will enchant you from the moment you enter Disney World property. As you drive toward the transportation and ticketing center, along Disney's highways, you see Mickey Mouse on the road signs. At first just his gloves over the top of the sign and as you get closer more and more of him is revealed.

You have to go to the Transportation and Ticketing center to get to the Magic Kingdom, either by ferry across the Seven Seas Lagoon or by Monorail. I always find it quicker to go to MK by Monorail and return by ferry as it carries more passengers. This would only really apply if you left the park when either the park closes or a Firework Display has finished. You can also get the monorail to EPCOT from here if you wished.

This is the first time you will get a glimpse of Cinderellas Castle. It sends a tingle down your spine and I have had grown men say "It brought a lump to my throat". It never does it again, just that first time. Once you arrive at MK you then need to queue (Get in Line) for security and the turnstiles for admission.

On entering MK the first place you come across is Main Street USA. Main Street is designed, through forced perspective, to look as if it's much longer than it is when you're walking towards the castle. In the mornings, you are all excited and have the energy to walk. When you're walking away from the castle towards the exit, it looks shorter. Also, it is believed that most people walk on the right side of the street, so, all the food shops are on the right as you enter for those wanting breakfast, while the shops are on your right on the way out! When you are coming out, all the shops on your right have gifts and souvenirs. Towering in the distance is Cinderella's Castle in all it's glory. This is where everyone gets to grab that first photo opportunity. There are also Disney photographers on hand to take your picture.

If you have arrived early, just as the park has opened it may be a good idea to go right through to the back and go on those rides first as most people will work there way to the furthest point visiting rides and attractions as they go. Some of the attractions for older guests are there too, such as, Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain. A tip if there is a bit of a wait for both these rides, take a fast pass for one and queue for the other. Normally by the time you have done one ride it will be about time to ride the next one. A thing to note about fast passes, you can only use one fast pass at a time. So if you get a fast pass for a ride that says you should return between 10:00 and 12:00 you can't get another fast pass till after 10:00.

Try and avoid EMH (Extra Magic Hours) unless of course you are staying on a Disney property, this is when the park opens earlier and closes later for Disney Guests. The parks tend to be more full on these days.

The day time parade starts around 3pm and the sidewalks tend to get busy 1 to 2 hours prior to that. It does get very congested and it is difficult to cross the parade routes around that time too.
One other tip, if it is your birthday, anniversary or your first time visiting call at guest relations and tell them they will give you a badge and listen to the cast members say "Happy birthday Steve" or "How are you enjoying your first Visit Steve?"

MK can be one of the busier parks in Orlando but is well worth the visit. I wont go into all the rides that they have there you can find information about those sort of things quite easily. Try http://www.perfectfloridavillas.com/main/orlando-guide.aspx

Spread the Magic This Christmas With Magic Wallets

By Bradlley Mckoy

There's a definitive festive chill in the air. Carols can be heard and bright lights can be seen anywhere. It's no other than Christmas. It's the season to be jolly, for merrymaking, and for gift giving. If you haven't started shopping for presents yet, it's time to brave the cold and join the throngs of holiday shoppers searching for the perfect Christmas presents for their families and friends.

Make a Difference
Of course, it's understandable. You're a busy person. You have a job to do with year-end reports to submit and last minute quotas to meet. You don't have time to go traipsing around, shopping for Christmas presents and standing in line for hours in the city's many malls. So once again, you shop at the very last minute, grab the same items that you did last year, and wrap it up hurriedly to give to your loved ones. As far as Christmas gifts go, however, you can only get away with giving the same things over and over for so long. After all, nobody needs that many sweaters or coffee mugs.

This year, break out of the last minute shopping frenzy that you've gotten accustomed to. It's never too late. A little more time and a tad bit more effort would make a difference this Christmas.

The Magic You Can Find Online
Being too busy to go Christmas shopping is no longer an excuse. In this day and age, you can shop anywhere, even from the comforts of your own home or office. With the many websites online you can go to to shop for presents, you no longer have to walk around aimlessly, searching for presents and standing in line for hours. Just a few taps on your keyboard and a few mouse clicks, you're already Christmas shopping.

So now that you've discovered the joy of Christmas shopping online, be a little bit more imaginative in picking your Christmas presents. Imagine how surprised your loved ones would be when you give each of them a magic wallet. A magic wallet works just as well as a normal wallet, except it has a bit of a twist. You can put the fun and the whimsical back in what would have been a boring, run-of-the-mill present with a magic wallet.

Not Quite Like Santa
Of course, a present is not a present unless it is wrapped. You don't have to worry. Most online places where you can buy gifts online offer a gift wrapping service for a minimal fee. You can get a magic wallet wrapped up and sent directly to any of your loved ones.

So if you're sold on the idea of Christmas shopping online, you better start now because unlike Santa, these online gift shops can't deliver the magic wallets in just one night. You have to give them time to spare for shipping and handling. It's a minor setback, one that you can barely feel. But you'll surely feel good knowing that this year you made the extra effort to give a little magic at Christmas.

The Magic of Memory Lane

By Kevin Eikenberry

On a recent early autumn evening, I walked around the farm of my kidhood. In the spring, my father passed away, so I have spent more time here this year than in recent years. And on this particular evening I was on the farm alone. As the sun began to set a different memory seemed to arrive with each new step; memories of being a boy, of growing up, of mistakes made, of lessons learned and so much more.

I don't share this to be sappy or sentimental, though I can be both of those things. And to say that a tear drop didn't hit the ground would be a lie. But those are not the reasons I write this.
I write this for what happened after the tears fell and about the time the moon began to rise. I stopped thinking about those memories for a minute and started thinking about the day I had just spent as a professional 45-year-old man, doing things that seemed so far removed from this place and those memories.

And then the magic happened.

I began to connect those lessons and memories of the past to the things I did today, noticing things I could have done differently or better. I recognized that how I handled some things were a direct reflection of those lessons I had just remembered, though clearly they had been with me earlier in the day, I just didn't make that connection consciously.

The magic of learning happened.

It happened because I had stopped to reflect.

I stopped.

I reflected.

I took time to think, even though my laptop and a to-do list awaited me in the house.

I took time to think.

I thought about lessons from long ago and how they applied to me today. Though separated by time, context and circumstances, there were lessons remembered and learned that night that helped me be more effective, productive and successful the following day.

You can do what I did.

You can experience what I experienced.

You don't have to be at a farm in Michigan, or your childhood home. You could be walking down your street or across a college campus. You could be riding in a subway or sitting in your office.
The where doesn't matter; what matters are the actions we must take.

You must turn down and turn off all the noise around you.

You must tune in . . . to your inner voices.

Scan the memories.

Ask the questions.

Listen to the answers.

Reflect.

Think.

And learn.

Your walk down memory lane may really happen (as mine did), or it may be in your mind; regardless of the where, the memories will offer lessons and learning opportunities - both long remembered and brand new.

And both will be magic.

Child Magic Trick - In The Beginning

By Brad Chadwick

Being a magician, even one who does magic just for fun, is a very special thing. Magicians know more than just how to do tricks. They also know... the Magician's Code. The Magician's Code has time-honored rules that all magicians follow when they perform. If you want to do real magic, you will remember them. And they are very easy to remember because there are only 2 rules!

First, never, ever repeat a trick when you perform it in front of an audience! After you do one trick, follow it with another, saying, "Now, here is something different"... or special... or even more amazing. But why would you not perform the trick over?

That might be obvious. If the magician (that is you!) does the trick again, your friend (that is the person or the audience watching) gets a look at things he did not notice before. Most of the great tricks depend on your audience not looking where you do not want them to. So if you do the trick again, you give them a chance to discover the secret.

Which brings us to the second rule of the Magician's Code (and I bet you can guess this one).
Second, never, ever tell anyone how you did the trick. Your friends will beg you to tell them.
They will say, "Please, we have to know how you did that!" Maybe you will even think it might be fun to show them. It is not. Do not even think about doing it. Want to know why? When you do a great trick, you have done something really special. You made something "impossible" happen. Or so it seems.

And your friends are left amazed. But...you did not really make the impossible happen, now did you? You distracted your friends, or did something without their seeing, or your friends were tricked into not thinking about something, right? In other words, magic has a lot to do with things that people did not see, or notice, or think about.

If you show them how to do the trick, and then show them what they missed, well, they would not be amazed. Uh-uh. Mostly, they will feel disappointed. Want to hear what they will say?
Most likely they will say something like, "Is that all it is?" Good-bye, amazement. And you are not much of a magician anymore.

Also, by telling people, you can ruin the trick for other magicians who might do it. If everyone knows how the trick is done, It is not much of a trick anymore, is it? Now I bet you are wondering how I can tell you. Well, for one magician to teach another magician a secret is okay.
That is how great tricks get passed on. You have only started and there is a world of magic ahead of you. Now that you know the Magicians Code, you are ready to learn some very cool tricks.

Magic Tricks As A Hobby - How To Become A Magician

By Alex Tsui

Have you ever watched a magician in action and secretly wished that you were the one performing all those amazing feats and getting the audience's applause? Magic has fascinated countless millions of people through the ages and used to be a mysterious art shrouded in deep secrecy. Now its sealed doors have been opened and almost anyone who has an interest in magic can take it up as a rewarding and potentially lucrative hobby.

Before I go further, I would like to clarify that when I talk about magic here, I'm referring to magic tricks- the art of illusion. It is the branch of entertainment whereby secret principles, props and skills are used to make impossible effects look like they are really happening.

Magic tricks are sometimes mistakenly assumed to be supernatural events caused by spiritual forces, simply because they look so real. No matter how incredible they look, magic tricks are not created by any supernatural means whatsoever but through some clever logical methods.

Okay, so where do you go to learn magic? If you happen to be born into a family of magicians or if someone you know is a magician, you are very fortunate because you can ask that person to be your magical teacher. Magic used to be passed down from generation to generation this way.

Don't worry if you don't know anyone. There are other ways to go about it. Try to look up your local phone directory or yellow pages for magic stores or shops. They are available in most big cities in Western countries like the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Europe.
Unfortunately however, they are not usually found in other countries.

The next best thing is to search your local library or book stores for magic books. These are books that teach you various tricks that you can perform with cards and common household objects. Most of these tricks are quite simple but they are good enough for a start. You can also try looking in toy stores for magic kits. These are packaged magic tricks that come with complete instructions and the props that you need to perform them. They are good as gifts for aspiring magicians too.

If all the above fail, the last resort is to visit online magic stores. Just do a search at any of the good search engines and you will find many good reputable magic websites that sell a huge variety of magic tricks, props, books, and DVDs. Any magician, from a beginner to an advanced professional, would be able to find something suitable for his or her skill level.

What are the benefits of taking up magic as a hobby? As a semi-professional magician who has been performing magic for as long as I can remember, I found that magic has improved my confidence, public speaking skills and mental alertness. On top of that, it has also provided many hours of fun on many boring evenings and through the years has helped me gain many friends. If you are good, it can also be a rewarding career.

Therefore, if you have even the slightest interest in magic, I urge you not to wait any longer. Jump right in and enjoy the wonderful hobby of magic!

One Magic al Tip to Transform Your Daily Dialogue: Positive Verbal Language Makes All the Difference

By Asma Fayyad

Most of us are victims of negative emotions and that is certainly reflected on our daily communications, the verbal and the non verbal. Every morning we fall prey to food allergies, nightmares, sleeping disorders, pains and aches of the previous night. You see the world through rusty and hazy goggles; you wonder "when will I ever feel better about my life".

You start shouting at your husband, children and start posing a cinched nose towards everyone. You forcibly draw a smile on your face and start pretending that you are getting through the day just fine.

That is when you are in great danger of committing verbal abuse. You will tend to abuse your own verbal skills. Most people mistake being direct and honest with being negative and rude. You can always say the truth in a better way.

A simple example comes from your daily life. Let's assume that you want your husband to place his tooth brush back on the holder, what would you normally say? "Honey, please don't leave your tooth brush on the sink?" or "why do you always leave your tooth brush on the sink, can't you simply put it back on the holder?"

The minute you start your word with “DON'T” the person will stop listening to you, no matter how useful your feedback is.

Instead say something like "it would be a lot more hygienic if you kept your tooth brush away from the sink, it gets messy there. There is a holder on the shelf, you can put it there once you are done brushing"

This will sure take longer to say but note that there is not a single negative word in the sentence. The tip for today is

Start your talk with a positive word and lead your listener to understand rather than command him/her to do something.

Watching your mouth, minding your language not only means to avoid abusive words and expressions, it means "STOP, THINK, CHOOSE, then SHOOT" you hit your target better this way.
