What Would You Do If Anything Was Possible?

By Dennis Harting

Here is a simple yet difficult question. What would you do if anything was possible? In other words, what kind of life would you lead? How would you spend your days? With whom would you interact with? Experience has shown that few people ever consider questions like this. Most are so busy handling the daily situations that arise that they fail to take the time to see what else is possible. Life becomes a series of problems to be dealt with. The main goal becomes survival.

Society has a way of conditioning us to believe that there are limitations on us. Naturally, those closest to us growing up have the most impact. Young people are told that if they go to school, get good grades, and work for a good company, that happiness will be the result. Unfortunately for the majority of people, this is not the case. The average person lives as Thoreau terms “a life of quiet desperation”. They are silently dissatisfied.

There are a few who have the visionary spirit when they are younger. Society and the people in it have a way of dealing with these individuals. They are told to be more realistic and to get their feet on the ground. The dreams they carry with them are systematically diminished. Of course, the ones offering this information have the person's best interest at heart. Yet these are the same people who are suffering themselves.

The model that this society promotes leads to an unfulfilled life in most instances. Few take the time to ask themselves “what does my dream life look like?”. Some time quietly reflecting upon this yields tremendous results. However, to be truly effective, we must first overcome that conditioning that tells us we cannot do what we desire.

What would your life be like if you did not believe what others told you? The world is a limitless arena of possibilities. Everything that is in existence at this moment was once only an idea. The thoughts in people's minds preceded the creation of different products. In most instances these individuals were common people with average intelligence. There was not a great deal “special” about them except for the desire to manifest their thoughts.

The level that most people attain is usually extremely low as compared to their capabilities. What each human being is capable of is absolutely incredible. The talents that exist in every person will catapult them into another dimension of reality if they will tap into this power. Most stop seeking since they are conditioned to believe that they cannot achieve anything greater.
The ideas of others are implemented each day in that individual's life.

Begin to accept that anything you desire to do in life is possible. This is especially true if it has been accomplished before. There is a saying that 'success leaves a trail'. In most endeavors, there is no need to reinvent the wheel. Simply determine what you want to achieve, find someone who has done it, and model their behavior. The chance that following their actions will lead to similar results. This is where mentors are very helpful. Learning from others increases our chances of success in life substantially. It also gives us a short-cut since we are able to avoid the pitfalls that befell others. We can reduce the time it takes for us to get the results we want.

Eliminating the 'ceiling' in our mind opens up a world of possibilities to us. The more we understand that we need not settle for less the quicker our lives can change. The world is an abundance place with unlimited resources. There are thousands of people who are willing to assist others who have a compelling dream. Ideas constantly flow to all of us on a daily basis.
Those who succeed in creating the life they truly desire are the ones who believe they can make those dreams come true. It all begins with the understanding that it is all possible. People who approach in this manner achieve more than those who put themselves in a 'box'.

The mind can be a powerful force in our success or it can be a jailer. How it is used is determined solely by you. It will become an asset if you put it to work for you. However, turn it against yourself and it instantly becomes the worst enemy you ever will face. So ask yourself 'what would I do if anything was possible?'.
