Do Something - Even If It's Wrong
By Jean Charles
Taking action is the only way to accomplish anything in life. Action is the bridge between plans and achievement. Action is the ingredient that ensures results. Only action can cause reaction and only positive action can cause positive reaction. The odds that you will succeed without taking action are about the same as winning the lottery without buying a ticket.
When you are stuck or indecisive, take the advice of my wise old Grandpa and “Do something, even if it’s wrong!”
Taking action has two main benefits. The first is obvious, if you don’t do something, you are not going to get anything. You will get what comes your way and it may not be what you want.
The second benefit of taking action is the “hidden” value of allowing you to make mistakes.
Mistakes show you what you need to learn. Actually there are no mistakes, there are only opportunities to learn. Mistakes indicate what you must study in order to have success. This might involve finding out more information, or more practice of what you already know. Either way, when you make a mistake, it is a sign saying “Study this if you want to be successful”.
Reviewing your actions, including those that led to success, is known as critical thinking. High achievers use critical thinking to improve each time they take action; the mediocre use it to find reasons to procrastinate or give up. You can be grateful for your ability to recognize what you did not do quite right and do better next time. As long as you are actively pursuing your goals, there will always be a next time. So, do something, even if it’s wrong this time, and do it right next time.
“Action may not always bring happiness; but there is no happiness without action."
Benjamin Disraeli
“Vision without action is merely a dream. Action without vision just passes the time. Vision with action can change the world." Joel Barker
"Ideas are powerful things, requiring not a studious contemplation but an action, even if it is only an inner action."
Midge Dector
