Lose Weight for the Last Time

By Jessica Bergkvist

You can cut calories and lose weight. It is simple math...you take in less calories than your body burns and that equals weight loss. Add exercise and the results are even better. So why does it seem so hard to lose weight and keep it off? Why is it that the diet industry brings in BILLIONS of dollars per year, and about 95% is repeat business?

Answer: Diets simply don't work. If they did, you would never have to diet again. Sensible eating habits and exercise DO work, so why doesn't everyone who wants to lose weight just eat right and exercise?

The answer to that question may be found in how you think. When you picture your body, what do you see? Do you see a naturally thin person who is getting better everyday? Or do you see "fat?" When you think of your body, what thoughts come up most often? Do you think more thoughts of having the healthy, lean body you want, or do you think mostly of what you don't want?

Your body cannot do anything without your brain telling it what to do. What the mind sees and thinks, the body tends to follow. If you constantly think about and picture yourself being "fat," then your body automatically does what it is told, so chances are that you will have a difficult time losing weight and keeping it off. If you train yourself to think of and imagine yourself the way you want to be, chances are that your body will follow those directions and help you to create new habits that will allow you to lose weight and keep it off.

If you want to lose weight and you imagine yourself as fit, lean, and healthy, it helps to subconsciously and automatically motivate you toward that goal. If you imagine yourself as fat, you actually become motivated toward exactly what you do not want.

So just how do you change what may be a lifetime of "fat thinking?" First, it takes awareness and practice. Awareness of your thoughts and then practicing replacing them with new, healthier thoughts. Sounds easy enough, right? Not always. The subconscious (or unconscious) mind contains these "programs" of old thinking and behaviors...and remember, these took years to create, so simply trying to think different thoughts may not be enough to create the change you want.

Using hypnosis, you can communicate directly with the subconscious mind and "reprogram" old thinking and behaviors into new, permanent, positive thoughts, images, and actions that will help you lose the weight and keep it off for good.

Get Your Dream Jeans Body and Lose 10 Pounds

By James Penn

With the right kind, your jeans will be doing all the work of slimming you and showing your best features. Women want to lose pounds instantly and have great-fitting jeans. From strategically placed pockets to hidden panels, designers have made it easier to find your perfect pair while giving you a slimming effect.

Tummy Control
For tummy control, and who doesn't want a slimmer middle, get jeans with panels that are discreetly sewn inside. Macy's and other major department stores now carry tummy tuck jeans.

Celebrities love tummy tucks and you can find out more about where they are sold by searching "tummy tuck jeans" in your favourite search engine. The company guarantees you will look a size smaller. Lee jeans are also known for their stomach smoothing fit. For a sleek appearance and no lumps caused by bulky jeans, look for those with pockets sewn into the fly. And, be careful with a slightly elongated rise which can cause tummy spillover.

Trim Your Thighs
To trim your thighs look for a bootcut or straight leg style. This creates a long, lean line as does wearing a dark wash with no faded areas. To keep your dark jeans from fading all you do is add a couple of teaspoons of white vinegar in the rinse cycle. Wear stretchy, dark denims over your thighs to look sleek with a slimming effect, but make sure you have enough room around your thighs and knees. Stay away from clinging fabric because it can make legs look bigger. Riders by Lee jeans are only about $20 and give a leg slimming effect.

Flatten Your Hourglass Figure
Nothing is more upsetting than not being able to accentuate your waist when wearing trendy denim. You can try jeans with a bit of elastic at the waist...not the type that are obviously elastic. Mavi.com carries some styles like this. You can also opt for a contoured waistband that is cut higher in the back with a slightly scooped front. Adorn your jeans with rhinestones for a modern look.

Good Looking Derriere
For a better view, the trick is in the pockets. Wear jeans with curvy pockets for a beautiful shape in the back. For greater fullness, wear flap style pockets. To draw the eyes up, wear denim with fading at the back of the legs. Another trick for lifting your backside is wearing a belt that covers part of it to make it look shapelier. Try different sizes with different jeans and you will see which ones look better on you. Serpentine stitching also creates an uplifting effect.

When buying jeans, take your time. Most women try at least 10 pairs before finding the right fit.
To build your denim wardrobe, choose a darker jean for a dressy look and a lighter shade for casual days. It also helps to bring along the pair of shoes you plan to wear the jeans with so you can try them on and make sure the length is perfect.

You're now ready to show off your dream jeans body!

How Does Calorie Cycling Help Me Lose Weight?

By Rachel Jenkins

A brand new way to lose weight has been hitting airwaves all over the United States.
This diet, called "calorie cycling", allows people to effectively lose large amounts of weight in short periods of time. But before you dismiss it as a fad diet, read on.

This way of eating teaches people to switch up the amount of calories that they eat day-to-day. By doing this, their body can never figure out how many calories are coming to it (as is often the case with low calorie or low carbohydrate diets), and therefore it can't adjust... or plateau.

The diet actually enforces cheat days and says that it wouldn't be successful without it.

Rachel Rofe, calorie cycling expert, explains that our bodies are used to this way of eating.
During the cavemen era, our ancestors would have to go hungry for days at a time. Whenever they got the opportunity to eat, they would binge in order to stay satisfied until the next time they had the opportunity to eat.

Cheat days are similar to the days that our ancestors fasted. Because the metabolism never expects these days, it can never adjust to a certain way of eating, and the body is literally forced to continue dropping unwanted pounds.

Because people get to have these cheat days where they can literally eat anything they want, psychologists heartily recommend this diet. They love that dieters don't need to feel deprived of malnourished. Doctors love it because it's a natural way to lose weight without people having to deprive themselves of nutrients, food groups, or even "bad" food.

Because calorie cycling is much easier to stick to than a typical weight loss plan, it has a much larger retention rate than many of the other diets.

Rachel has lost 100 pounds herself, and is passionate about helping other people do it too. She has been featured in Woman's World, among others.

12 Simple Ways To Lose Weight

By Daron Payne

Drink green tea every day.
a. Besides tasting great, green tea contains EGCG, which accelerates calorie burning through increased thermogenesis.

Cut back on soda.
a. Essentially sugar water, soda is full of calories that only add to your waistband. Try to have only one per day. Better yet, none.. Substitute soda with green tea or water. A bonus to lessening how much soda you drink is an improved skin complexion.

Buy a pedometer, clip it to your belt, and aim for an extra 1,000 steps a day.
a. Most people take only 2,000 to 3,000 steps a day. Try adding 2,000 steps per day. It will help you maintain your current weight and stop gaining weight; adding more than that will help you lose weight.

Eat five or six small meals or snacks a day instead of three large meals.
a. Many health magazines note that eating smaller meals more frequently helps your body to fully break down food, helps your body to release less insulin, which keeps blood sugar steady and helps control hunger. This is also helpful when you're exercising and trying to add muscle.

Bring the color blue into your life more often.
a. Believe it or not, the color blue functions as an appetite suppressant. Try to serve up dinner on blue plates, dress in blue while you eat, and cover your table with a blue tablecloth. Try to avoid orange, yellow and red in your dining areas as they encourage eating.

Eat whole grain foods.
a. Try to eat whole grain foods whenever possible. The enriched, bleached flower you will find in so many of today's breads have large amounts of simple carbohydrates from white flour and added sugar. These wreak havoc on your blood sugar and lead to weight gain. Eating carbs is ok, just eat the good ones: whole grain.

Eat cereal for breakfast five days a week.
a. Studies have shown that those who eat cereal everyday for breakfast are significantly less likely to be obese and have diabetes than those who don't. They also consume more fiber and calcium -- and less fat -- than those who eat other breakfast foods. Of course, that doesn't mean Lucky Charms or Fruity Pebbles should be your breakfast of choice. Keep to the top shelf in the cereal aisle. That's where you'll find the healthier cereals.

State the positive.
a. It may sound bizarre but it actually works. (Whether you believe it or not) repeat positive thoughts to yourself. "I can lose weight." "I will get out for my walk today." "I know I can resist the ice cream sandwich after dinner." Repeat these phrases to yourself all day long. After a little while, they will start to come true. I've found this technique is true for just about anything. When you think positive, positive things happen.

Use flavorings such as hot sauce, salsa, and Cajun seasonings.
a. Besides providing lots of flavor with no fat and few calories, many of these seasonings -- the spicy ones -- turn up your digestive fires, causing your body to temporarily burn more calories.

Switch from regular milk to 2%.
a. Pretty straight forward. Reduce the fat = lose the weight. You'll find once you get used to 2% or skim milk, it's just as satisfying as whole milk.

Substitute a handful of almonds in place of a sugary snack.
a. Adding almonds (or almost any nuts) help with digestion, appetite suppression, adds healthy calories and tastes great. Avoid the sugar or salt covered nuts. Just plain old nuts are the best.

Brush your teeth after every meal, especially after dinner.
a. That clean, minty freshness will serve as a cue to your body and brain that mealtime is over... not to mention it will make your next visit to the dentist more pleasant.

All of these ideas will help you to lose weight. You don't need to make any huge lifestyle changes. You don't even need to implement all of them. Just do what you can and try to stick with it.

Need to Lose Weight? Then Increase Your Metabolism

By Matt Falconer

If you need to lose weight, one great way to start melting pounds away is to increase your metabolism. By increasing your metabolism, you'll be able to process food faster and therefore will store less fat in the body. In fact, with a better metabolism, you're body will even begin burning away existing fat in order to get the energy it needs to support itself.

How Metabolism Works Your metabolism can either work for you or against you. The main way we all get energy is from glucose, commonly known as our blood sugar.

When our blood sugar runs low, our metabolism burns the fat in our bodies in order to make more energy. However, when our blood sugar runs high, our metabolism stores fat in our bodies to use later.

So now let's look at how you can get your metabolism to work for you.

Go Ahead and Eat Many people believe that the key to losing weight is to stop eating. Well, that will actually have a negative effect on your metabolism. Eating less will cause your metabolism to slow down because it will sense that you don't have enough food.

So when you finally eat, your blood sugar will jump through the roof and your metabolism will store the extra glucose as fat.

Instead of starving yourself, eat many smaller, healthy meals that are low in calories and fat. Also, consume plenty of water, fruits, and vegetables.

By eating smaller portions you'll not only curb your appetite, but you'll also trick your body into thinking that it's getting plenty of food. Therefore, your metabolism will kick into a higher gear.
Then when it doesn't get the glucose it needs for energy (because you're eating healthy) then it will begin to take that glucose from the stores of fat that are already in your body.

Get Yourself Moving Exercise is a guaranteed way to increase your metabolism. Always check with your doctor for what is the best exercise regime for you. Most of the time, walking as little as twenty minutes a day, will help increase your metabolism.

Exercise actually helps you lose weight in two ways:

First, exercise builds muscle and muscle burns calories on its own. Secondly, when you exercise your body is forced to come up with enough energy to support your activity. So, it begins burning fat in order to give the energy you need.

Don't be put off when I say exercise - there is no need to be pounding away furiously on a treadmill for hours a day.

A simple yet effective mini routine is all that is needed to give your metabolism a boost.
Some Final Words about Losing Weight If you need to lose weight, you're certainly not alone. Millions of people are in the same boat. However, most people don't realize what it takes to first lose the weight and then to keep the weight off.

If you increase your metabolism, you'll see that over time, your fat will melt off your body and your weight will gradually drop. The two best ways to increase your metabolism are to eat smaller meals more often and to exercise regularly.

Matt Falconer's latest guide helps you shift pounds, boost metabolism and burn fat without spending hours in the gym sweating away on the treadmill. =>
