Parents ought to be the first source of sex education for their children. Don't think that because children can learn about human sexuality in school, your responsibility to teach them about sex has been removed. Especially now that there is confusion as to how to teach human sexuality in school, the parents must be ready to assume the role to educate their children in everything they need to know to understand their sexuality.

Who's better to teach about morality and the ramification of sex and sexuality to your children than you their parents? Often times, the school only teaches about the anatomy of human sexuality and the issue of morality and the taboos related to sex are often placed on the sidelines.
This is where you should come in - teach your children their moral obligation when it comes to sex.

Sex education does not involve only teaching the children about the anatomy of the human reproductive organ. It's much more than that. Sex education also involves teaching the children their moral obligation towards the opposite sex. Even more so for teenagers, you need to teach them their moral obligation towards their boyfriends or their girlfriends for that matter.

More so if your teenagers are already sexually active. You have an obligation to open their eyes about the possible ramification of their action. Your son could get a girl pregnant or your daughter can become pregnant if they are practicing sex at a very young age. They should understand the implications of their actions.

Another very important aspect of sex education you should teach your children is the issue on sexually transmitted diseases. If they are already sexually active, they must understand that they can contract disease by sleeping around with many partners, or even from their very first sexual encounter

How You Can Learn About Financial Education

When I first started the journey of learning about financial education, the terms in financial education was totally like a foreign language to me. I had heard some of those words before but what does it really mean. Those moments were poignant moments where I realized that I need a lot more to learn in this area of study. Through this journey, I have grown as a learner and raring to learn more in financial education.

My financial education begins with the understanding of personal financial statement. One of the first terms that I had learn in financial statement is Assets and Liabilities. These are significant terms one must learn and understand to accumulate wealth.

Assets in simple terms are sources that produce and increase your income. For example, owning a part time home based business, franchise, your own company and various investment sources that produce and increase your income are assets. Owning a rental property that produces a positive cash flow income can be considered an asset. Liabilities in simple terms are sources that create output and reduce your income. Loans, bad debts and expenditures that create output to your income generated are liabilities. Owning a property that produces negative cash flow can be considered a liability too.

A metaphor that I can use to describe assets and liabilities is the factors involved in determining the growth of a tree. A tree needs sunlight, air and water to grow. With right amount, it will grow and bloom with green leaves. Similarly, assets need income generating sources such as business and real estate investments for the assets to grow and resulting in the individual owning assets to become richer. A growing tree with healthy green leaves looks more appealing. An individual with rich in assets tends to look more confident and happy.

With lack of sunlight, air and water, the tree will not grow much and the individuals with more liabilities will become poorer and poorer. Individuals with more liabilities tend to be unhappy and less confident when they realized that liabilities are mounting.

One way such problems can be eliminated is through financial education, such as understanding a financial statement and playing educational board games such as cashflow 101 and applying the lessons learn in real life. One has to realize that the financial education is continual and the individual must be persistent and consistent in making the effort to increase the assets column than the liabilities column in the financial statement. I heard before that if one has money, invest wisely. If one has time, invest in your education.

With this concept of focusing the increase in assets column, one has great potential to become richer. With dedication to self develop such as reading self development books, networking and learning from others, playing financial educational board games and applying it in real life by starting small like home business, one can slowly develop into better learner in financial education area. If one love learning, the individual will most certainly enjoy and grow well as a person through this learning experience.

Who doesn't want their kids to read? Know how to make your kids love this excellent hobby.
Jim Trelease said in his book, "The Read-Aloud Handbook", that readers have become endangered species. But as a parent, you can make a difference. You can make your kids love reading-a skill that will prove to be a valuable asset in education and in life. Here are some tips to instill in your kids some book lovin' traits:

Read to your children.
Set a regular reading time with your kids. Ideally, it should be before bedtime.

Make books available.
Think about this, if you do not have any books around, how will your kids cultivate their love for stories?

Visit the library
Make your kids experience going to the library. This is will be an educational trip and will be the foundation of his reading values.

Be a good role model
From time to time, show your kids that you too, read. As they say, you should always set an example.

Cut Back on TV
When television is not available, your kids will turn to other things that will entertain them. And the most possible of which is reading.

Reward Reading.
This is self explanatory. Rewards system with kids usually work since they have something to look forward to. Reward them with something that drives them.

Support reading programs in school.
There is no better way to show your advocacy for reading than by supporting their programs in school. This way, you help children other than your kids, you show a good example and you help the world have more readers!

Sunday School in the 21st Century

What does the future hold for Sunday School? It’s a question that Christian educators working at all levels must ask. Why do we see some Sunday Schools that are exciting and growing?
Whilst others are dead, dying or somewhere in between just holding their own, with the same programmes and attendance.

England has a rich history of beginnings and steady growth. Plat owing through the latter half of the last century. Today most Sunday Schools fall into the last category - just holding their own.
A closer look at the first group, the schools that are showing steady growth that is sustained.
That have exciting and dynamic programmes could be the answer we seek. How a higher level of Christian education and commitment can be achieved and promote growth. If we are willing to make changes to our programmes and learn to listen.

Taking time and studying the information about these Sunday Schools the following was noted as common themes. It is not intended as a complete list by any means. The hope is that you will be able to think about how you could make changes to the programmes you run in order to promote more growth.

First these Sunday Schools were large (200 members or more). This gave them the advantage of a larger pool of teachers/leaders to choose from. The encouraging aspect to this is that most started small. You may have a small school now but you can grow!

Secondly most if not all employed a full-time Youth Paster/Director of Christian Education. This was thought to be necessary taking into account the amount of time it takes to co-ordinate and run the various programmes. If a paid person was not an option then they had very active volunteers (individuals or a committee) who gave considerable time to the planning and promoting of the Sunday School.

All were evangelical. All had a definite sense of reaching and meeting the needs of the un-churched and “un-Sunday-Schooled” in their area/community. Regular planned programmes included invitation and visitation. Classes were offered covering evangelism and outreach. Of vital importance was that all these schools made sure visitors and new members were made welcome and made to feel part of the Sunday School family. Some offered special classes for the spiritually “young” members.

There seems to be an abandoning of traditional Sunday School lessons in favour of writing their own curriculum. Whilst others used denominational or independent publishing they made major changes to adapt the material to the needs of the children.

Another interesting aspect was that most had moved away from the single teacher approach to that of team teaching. Two or three people teach a particular class for a year (no more). They agree to study, pray and plan for the coming lessons. The advantage of this is that one person can teach the class whilst the other/s prepare for the next part. The one year commitment also ensures that “burn-out” is not reached as the historical problem of using and exhausting teacher/leaders is avoided.

Today’s children and young people are used to having lessons in small segments of information, each related to the same lesson or theme, presented in rapid succession. The class may start with a story and move into music, drama, guest speaker, crafts etc.

Another way of teaching is to make use of the activity/learning centre approach. This entails children moving from one station to another within the classroom. They learn at their own pace so this method relies on the child’s self-motivation. Activities range from listening centres to week-long activities with parents/carers.

In conclusion it all paints a bright and optimistic future for Sunday Schools. The question remains what will you do to build a Christian education programme? One that will reach into your community and touch the un-churched at the same time building and encouraging members to a deeper commitment to God, His word and His work. It won’t be easy but if you are to have an active, growing Sunday School, do you have a choice?

Continuing Education Requirements - Plan Ahead to Avoid the Last Minute Rush!

Have you completed your continuing education requirements yet this year? If you have, congratulations on planning ahead! If not, now is the time to start looking for classes so that you don’t find yourself scrambling for hours at the last minute. Waiting until the last minute to take care of mandatory CE can be very stressful and counterproductive.

If you work in a field that requires continuing education credits in order to maintain licensure, you know how important it is to complete mandatory training in a timely manner. When you find yourself having to complete most, or even all, of your continuing education hours in a short period of time, you often end up having to sign up for expensive classes that cover subjects that don’t interest you at all. This defeats the purpose of continuing education, and causes you to spend valuable time taking classes that aren’t likely to benefit you.

How to Avoid the Last Minute Crunch for CEThe best way to make sure that you don’t find yourself short on CE hours when it is time to reapply for your professional license is to develop a plan for working the training you need into your schedule throughout the year.

For example, Alabama nurses have to earn 24 hours of continuing education credit every two years. It makes sense for nurses in Alabama to plan on taking 12 hours each year. Depending on work schedules and class availability, it is a good idea, if this is your requirem
ent, to take an average of three hours of continuing education credit every quarter.

It is much easier to find three hours of approved continuing education training in a three month period than it is to find up to 24 hours in the last month or two before your license renewal application is due.

The best way of scheduling your continuing education classes depends partially on the ebb and flow of your work schedule. Most nurses have similar schedules year round, so it is logical for them to try to spread their classes out evenly each quarter.

Accountants, however, deal with the huge rush of tax season in the winter and spring, so it makes more sense for them to concentrate on completing continuing education requirements during the summer and fall months.

Heating Venting and Air Conditioning (HVAC) contractors tend to be the busiest during the warmest and coldest months of the year, so it makes sense for them to schedule their HVAC CE classes during the mildest months, when their workloads aren’t likely to be as hectic as the rest of the year.

Whatever your profession, and regardless of the number of continuing education credits you must complete to renew your license, it is not in your best interest to put off taking your classes until the last minute. If you can spread your CE requirements out evenly through the year, or plan to take classes during times when your workload is at its lightest, you will be much stressed out when it is time to renew your license.

Government Regulatory On-going Education Tests with Unethical Questions on Ethics

The government is requiring more and more businesses to comply with on-going education and yet we see that amongst these tests are tests in every industry on ethics. One might ask what the government knows about ethics, yet this is not the topic that came up in discussion recently in our think tank, instead we discussed that on these ongoing education tests on ethics it is impossible to get 100% correct, because one question is always impossible to get right, there is No right answer?

Well it there is no right answer and the test indicates there is then there is a problem with Trickery questions and is that really ethical? No of course not. It is nearly impossible to understand all the verbose rules and regulations, ambiguous definitions and intent of the laws sometimes, and all this is a clear sign of over regulation, over regulation is unethical, because it is like saying there is a problem in an industry that does not actually exist.

Even if you know the Letter of the law, over time the case Law is inconsistent with any sort of real ethics. Regulations are most often used as tools, like the regulators who write the legislation in order to attack a competitor in the market place. Of course, once attacked from a government agency, no matter why or who instituted the investigation, fine or finding; it costs hundreds of thousands of dollars to defend and slows the progress of the company in question in the market place.

Thus most of our regulations are not made to help consumers, rather they are made so one business can get the upper hand of another. One has to ask why the government takes sides and why the government cannot practice what it preaches with regards to ethics or listen to the warnings of Adam Smith. So, if we really wish to discuss ethics, it is time to clean up the government's hand in it, from the on-going education tests to the actual market place extortion. Think on this.

Self Employed Health Insurance - Save Money By Educating Yourself Before You Buy

Self Employed Health Insurance can be expensive, especially if you have a family. There's no reason to "sugar coat" the facts. The fact of the matter though is that, unfortunately, it's something that you must have, especially if you have a family. You can save yourself money and give yourself peace of mind by knowing how the basic health insurance policies work and the coverage that they provide. This is generally the same, whether you're in need of self employed health insurance or not.

Basic Medical Policies

Basic health plans have low limits of coverage. Also, there are no deductibles or coinsurance used, which means that it pays first dollar coverage and pays only the usual and customary fees. These are standard fee rates that are set by your insurance company for each medical procedure. Even if the doctor or hospital you see charges more, your policy will only pay according to their own guidelines.

Basic medical can include any or all of the following policies.

Basic Hospital

Pays a stated daily amount only while you're in the hospital (confined). An example would be $500 per day for a limited number of days, like 30 or 60. This type of coverage can be issued by itself or in combination with Medical Expense policies.

Other miscellaneous ancillary expenses while in the hospital include; physical therapy, dressings, drugs, operating rooms, x-rays, recovery rooms and more, up to a specified limit, like $10,000. Your coverage could be based on a multiple of the daily benefit amount, like 30x. Example, we used $500 per day in the previous example so that multiplied by 30 would be $15,000.

Both of these are reimbursement contracts.

Surgery Expenses

Basic medical policies provide what's called a "schedule of benefits". This schedule shows the maximum amount payable for each covered procedure. This coverage is normally provided on what is called an "absolute" basis. This means that it will only pay a specific amount for a certain procedure.

Don't let this stuff intimidate you. Just like anything else in life it must be learned. Basically, my intent here is to give you a brief education on what you'll need to be discussing with an insurance agent when you're ready to buy your self employed health insurance policy. Wouldn't you want to know what was actually covered within your policy and for how much rather than find out later that you didn't have enough coverage? Of course you would. Educate yourself now and save in the long run.
