Same Product, Different People, Different Advertising Photography

By Jack Whites

Advertising photography is different for morning tea from that of a tea during the twilights. And the difference is expressed with the help of the different ways of advertising photography.
Lights, props, models, their expressions, the backdrop and various other things are used to create the difference. Here in this article, we will see how different ways of advertising photography can make a huge difference in advertising the same product to different kinds of customers and target audience. And the product we will use to clarify the point is tea leaves.
First of all, let us look at the two different kinds of target audience for advertising photography.

The first target audience is the average British ordinary married woman who may or may not be working. The other is a young dynamic office going unmarried young woman who is very busy throughout the day with not a moment to sit and relax. Both are woman, but they have different lifestyles.

Now let us take two situations where the same tea leaves are used by the two target audience.
In the first one, the married lady would like to have the tea early in the morning, before starting her day, or at the breakfast with her spouse. She would be more cool, quiet and composed and would like to enjoy the aroma, the flavor and the taste of the tea.

While in the second situation, a young lady is busy at the office and feels very tired and stressed after a whole day of assiduous work. She still has loads to take care of and she wants to relax a little bit with tea so that she can get charged up and ready to take them on.

The same advertisement would not work in both the situations. And for the difference in advertisements, first we have to take care of the advertising photography, which has to be different in both the cases.

About The Author: Jack White is a specialist in Advertising photography and other kinds of photography. He has worked in close coordination with many an expert commercial photographer of UK and other countries. Banner Advertising 101 - Unlock The Secrets To Cheap Banner Advertising

By Mark A. Abrahams

Banner advertising use to be very popular many years ago before the rise of Google. Many of the search engines had banners all over the place. Also many of the popular web sites also had many banners. However, with the rise of Google that did not use these obtrusive form of adverts it became very apparent that the fall of this form of advertising had come. Up until that point people were charging astronomical rates to display these adverts on their web sites.

However, with every web site looking like a flea market the click through rates for most adverts fell below 0.5% and consequently very few web sites were still using this form of advertising.

Recently this type of advertising has made a come back. In this article I would like to go over some tips that you can follow that will help you to get the most out of advertising this way.

Most people will place adverts with the big networks. Unfortunately, this will result in over priced ads that rarely will get the results that you want. The secret to using this method effectively is to find small to medium sites related to your niche market. Contact them individually and ask if you can place banners on their sites. It is very important to negotiate a good deal. If you do this right you will most probably pay only a third of the price that they display on their web site.

Just make sure that you design an effective banner. What I have found to work best for me is to have a simple design on a white background as this makes it look like content and definitely will improve your click through rate. Also use underlined blue text with a catchy slogan as this represents a hyperlink and will improve conversion.

Performance Advertising

By Michelle Jacko

This is the second of five risk management tips addressing the process of building Internal Controls. As regulators review supervisory controls and annual review reports of broker-dealers and investment advisers during routine examinations, particular focus is given on whether the firm has identified risks (and possible risks) and connected them to its policies and procedures.

A common area that is frequently overlooked is enforcement of policies and procedures related to performance advertising. Has your firm created an inventory of risks associated with performance advertising and mapped those risks to firm policies and procedures? Moreover, has your firm conducted any tests to ensure that controls are in place to ensure accurate reporting of performance figures?

One simple way to test your internal controls is to request back-up documentation from the marketing department. Before going to print on any materials, check to see that performance numbers, NAVs and the like are properly calculated (if applicable) and transposed to firm marketing materials.

For those advisory firms who claim compliance with GIPS, consider assessing these areas to help ensure you are satisfying the Gold GIPS requirements for compliant presentations.

1. How is the firm striving to make reasonable efforts to provide a compliant presentation to its prospective clients?

2. Can the firm supply within 24-hours (i.e., reasonable time) a complete list and description of all the firm's composites?

3. Does the firm have a current list and description of all composites that have been discontinued for at least five years after discontinuation?

4. Does the firm have available a compliant presentation for each of its composites listed?
Conducting in-depth analyzes such as these will help to identify "gaps" that may exist in the compliance program and will validate that the firm is capturing the necessary internal control information.

Where Can a Restaurant Find Free Advertising?

By Jeffrey Hauser

I've been in advertising for over 35 years. I began with an advertising agency and then started by own. Later, I became a sales consultant for the Yellow Pages. Most of my accounts were the smaller, family run businesses. Many were restaurants. Yet they all had one thing in common. They wanted either very low-cost advertising or free advertising. So I had to explain about the, "there's no free lunch," concept. They would be in denial and explain how they were going to use the referral idea, or WOM, which I call free advertising idea number one.

That’s right; they were talking about that good old “word-of-mouth.” But that’s not exactly traditional marketing. It relies entirely on someone telling someone else. The problem is that no one has control over what is said be it good or bad. So WOM can be as much damaging as it can be helpful. Even after that is explained, they feel it’s better than no advertising at all, which is typically a high-cost item. After all, they had already bought expensive equipment, furnishings, paid a store rental, hired employees, and retained insurance. Now, nothing was left. Wouldn’t that great large sign above the door be enough? It was their version of free advertising. Of course, if someone weren’t walking or driving by, they would never see it. So much for free advertising number two.

Then they might also tell me about their ten year old that could bike around the neighborhood and place flyers on local car windshields or in house doors. They could print a homemade colored sheet right off their computer printer for virtually nothing and little Jimmy was paid a few bucks here and there. And then I would try to clarify that those same flyers might make people mad because of the intrusion or annoyance factor. I know I hate to get something on my windshield. Sometimes they didn’t get my point, but then I was trying to sell them something.

Finally, they might suggest that another friend or relative walk up and down the street with a placard, offering a free dessert or something to entice the patrons in. I rolled my eyes and they finally got the message. Nowadays, I write on-line articles and read others about where you can get the best free advertising on the Internet. It seems that no one wants to actually pay for anything of value anymore. So, for those restaurants that now turn to the web for freebies, I will write this as a public service. If they have neglected to design and post their own website, here’s a free alternative.

Menuelephant.com is a completely free site for restaurants to post a menu and all their other information. Then a Google map is attached to show their location. In effect, it creates a web page for the individual restaurant even if it has multiple locations, and all for free. It’s also entirely free to the user and makes its money from Google ads instead. It’s a good place to consider for a restaurant that desires free advertising that works. And isn’t that what every business wants?

Jeffrey Hauser was a sales consultant for the Bell System Yellow Pages for nearly 25 years. He graduated from Pratt Institute with a BFA in Advertising and has a Master's Degree in teaching.
He had his own advertising agency in Scottsdale, Arizona and ran a consulting and design firm, ABC Advertising. He authored a book about his directory years, "Inside the Yellow Pages" which can be seen at his website, http://www.poweradbook.com and he is currently the Marketing Director for http://www.thenurseschoice.com a Health Information site and http://www.menuelephant.com which posts restaurant menus on the "site you'll never forget."

Free Google Advertising - Gain Free Traffic and Conversions Using Google

By Conner Hayes

We all know that Google is the most used search engine in the world. Getting listed on the front-page of search results is the goal of all webmasters, and everyone will try to achieve this in different ways. The easiest way, but indeed the more expensive, is to run a PPC (Pay-Per-Click) campaign with Google AdWords.

PPC campaigns can be extremely successful, however you must be able to manage and optimize each individual ad to see which ones are performing well and which ones are just wasting money.
This requires constant monitoring of keywords, click-thru rates, and most importantly, how much money you're spending in relation to how many sales you're getting (conversion ratio). If you've ever used AdWords before, I'm sure you've had an instance where you spent a few hundred dollars in just minutes with no sales at all! It's happened to the best of us.

There is an alternative to PPC that requires much more work, but in the end will bring you more conversions with only a small, if any, investment. This alternative is Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

By editing the HTML of a website so it contains specific things the indexing algorithm of Google will look for, top positions under the organic search results can be achieved. By 'organic', I'm referring to the natural search results, or all of the results NOT listed under the sponsored ads (PPC) section. SEO can be a very long and fruitless endeavor, but if you are able to gain a front-page listing, you will gain more traffic than if you used AdWords. Plus, all of the clicks you get will be free!

If you ask any well-known internet marketer, they will agree that organic search listings are much better than PPC ads. SEO can be difficult to understand and may take months until you see any results, but it is definitely worth the effort. There are methods, however, to get organic, front-page listings on Google that do not require extensive knowledge in SEO. These methods have only been discovered recently, but are starting to take the internet marketing community by storm.

Gender Specific Online Advertising - Don't Generalize, Just Assume

By Marci Lynn Crane

I began to consider gender specific online advertising when I queried my male co-workers about the “perfect doughnut experience” and found it apparent that 1) I wasn't communicating effectively or that 2) (big surprise) men and women are quite different.....even when it comes to online advertising.

The Perfect Doughnut Experience: A lead for better online advertising? The “perfect doughnut experience” was nothing more than a quest for a business metaphor for one of my online advertising articles. I wanted business professionals to understand that in order to take their business to “the next level” they needed to first understand their customers' widest desires---yes, even their wildest doughnut desires. That way, I assumed, after balancing those wild fantasies with a taste of web analytics reality, business professionals would have some knock-out ideas that would drive their existing and potential customers to their online advertising virtual venues or to their brick and mortar locations in hoards and droves. However, my idea---like most ideas---had a lot of explaining to do. So, I queried my male co-workers but it seemed that I hadn't explained my idea very effectively because the first co-worker to answer my question did mention that a wide screen TV tuned into a sports station would be nice but only included an old-fashioned doughnut and some doughnut holes on his wish list.

(My silent comment: That's nice but c'mon.....this is a doughnut fantasy and who wants to use online advertising manpower to emphasize a regular old fashioned doughnut when you can have a fantasy doughnut?)

Another co-worker wanted a doughnut that was larger in size, covered in chocolate and that had custard in the middle. The environment he was in while eating the doughnut didn't seem to matter.

I was becoming a bit frustrated and thought that perhaps I hadn't explained myself.

“Do you mean to say,” I said, “that if you could create the perfect doughnut experience you wouldn't create your own customized doughnut? You would just choose what you already knew you liked?”

“Yes” they agreed.

“We don't know what you mean by the experience,” one of them added.

“If food is good, it's good no matter where you are at,” he emphasized again.

I could scarcely believe my ears. When you have the chance for something better why stick with even the yummy familiarity?

For them however it just didn't seem sensible to run away with the idea of a doughnut experience.

Then I began to wonder, “Is this a gender related issue?”

If it is, how could this gender related issue change the way that you invest in online advertising?
Online Advertising for Restaurants and Food in GeneralIf my observation is correct then online advertising might perhaps be a process that includes some gender specific thinking.

For instance, let's just say that for men the experience surrounding food isn't as important as it is to a woman. Of course it's wrong to completely generalize any group of people but let's just assume. Based on my theory, couldn't online advertising professionals take those keywords that are strictly product related like “doughnuts”, “chocolate doughnuts” “double glazed doughnuts” and create “masculine” landing pages for these products that include great photos, and basic descriptions that focus on the size, familiarity, and basic flavors of the selection?

Then, couldn't that same online advertising professional take keywords that are more specific such as “party doughnuts,” “lemonade doughnuts”, Rolo doughnuts,” “black forest doughnuts,” and funnel online visitors to “feminine” content pages with equally great images but also with descriptions that really focus on the potential experiences that can surround a creative doughnut? These pages could also include photos of a great doughnut shop, party ideas, etc.

After all, doesn't it make sense that the more you focus on a unique experience, the more people are willing to pay “the extra mile” to see what all the fuss is about?

Maybe my male/female theory is off (generalizations usually are), but connecting your best keywords with content that is purposefully designed for specific information based keywords usually hits close to a very successful online advertising mark.
