Creating an Email List

By Huey Whitter

If you are going to use email marketing as a means of promoting your products and services online then you will need an email list. There is the option of using public email list or renting but you may find it is better to create your own email list. Creating an email list tales longer but will give you more control and better results.

If you have a company as opposed to an individual website then a good to collect email addresses would be during customer service or technical support calls. When your technical staff solves a problem for a customer you send a survey to their email address asking for their satisfaction with the service provided. Most customers will gladly participate and say what they find useful or needs changing .This is great feedback.

Do you receive email on a daily basis or regularly from companies and other individuals? You can use your incoming email to create an email list. If someone else sends you an email then they should be willing to receive yours likewise. Any contacts or prior business relationship then you can forward an initial email asking permission to further communicate through follow-up messages. Such email is permission based and will not be considered spam.

You may also obtain email addresses from your accounting staff or from records in your sales and marketing department. If you have had any contacts or prior business relationship then you can forward an initial email asking permission further to communicate through follow-up messages.

Creating an email list from business cards that you receive is also great. Be sure to make mention to that business card in your email to such party since this is permission based and will not be considered spam

Creating an email list can be fun, exciting and most rewarding.
